It might be too early to tell, but do you think the Sabres have a shot at finishing 1st in the divsion?

How can we tell less than 20 games into the season?

we can tell for sure, ottawa are leaps and bounds ahead of them and will remain to be very solid all year.

The Senators are the class of the NHL, clearly. For now at least, Buffalo is not even close. It's Ottawa's division.

**** them all you want, realistically the sabres have little to no chance of winning this division this year.

The same guys that say its too early to predict the division 20 games in are the same guys that said we would go like 9-1 in our first ten games.

Get a life (or lives, since there's more than one of you)

With the way teams are playing the Sabres and the fact the team will take a while to gel, I think it will be tough for the Sabres to get past Ottawa. Montreal is playing very well, but they usually start the season on fire. Sabres are the second best in the NE Division and probably the5th or 6th best in the East. This team is not built to play games the way they've been played so far this season.

Give me a break, they will be lucky to get a whiff of a playoff spot. But hey Tommy G (Mr. Invisible), Darcy listened to your "I'd give them all 1-day contracts if I could" mantra and has let the leadership and grit core of the team leave for the past two offseasons. It is telling that they tried to give Grier and Drury the same contract offers as the teams they eventually signed with, and the players both left. Why?? Because they didn't like the way the Sabres do Bi-Ness. The only Free agents they can get at this point are desparate washed-up guys like Nolan Pratt who nobody else wants anyways for obvious reasons.

So let's talk to and translate the situation to Tommy G in a manner he might understand...

Yo Tom-mee. You Gogoots. You can't treat these guys like your indentured lackeys at Paychex. Think of this next time you want to jerk one of these guys around. Think hard about the all that lovely green cash you will be missing come April. We all hope you get massive agita from your nightmares of all the Revenue you will not generate because you won't make the playoffs. Playoff cash is the manna of a hockey franchise. The Regular season cash don't pay all the bills, struns boy. You need playoff cash to make the team competitive and viable. With the damage that has been inflected on the team by those mamalukes Quinn and Regier, they may not make it next year either. So Tommy, we would expect that you put forth at least the same very public face you had last year and perhaps offer at least a modest, "scuzi, mia dispiachay" to the fine people of this oft-abused town.

We won't hold our breath. The arrogance of this triumverate of true incompetence is utterly astonishing given their recent gross missteps. But hey, we have half a minor-league team and system in Ra-cha-cha that can provide the answers to our plight on a moment's notice. Oh, forgot, they are really pissing off the people 50 miles east as well...

We don't have a chance. Every game the hole gets deeper and deeper. I'll be happy if our heads above ground by the end of this, much less the top of the heap.

Words right out of my mouth, though I would like to have home ice for the first round, never know when you may need it.

Lets just focus on putting a few wins togehter and making the playoffs . Honestly who cares if we win the division as it doesnt matter very much.

I agree it really doesn't matter much, just take last year for example! You knew they were in trouble when they were struggling in the first series vs. the Islanders! What I really would've liked to see was last year's lineup, in this year's situation, and perhaps maybe they wouldn't have been under so much pressure/gotten a big head! (depending on how you view the situation!) I do however thinks it's too early to tell, because even the Mighty Ottawa Senators(who we should've beaten) have the ability to have a 2nd-half of the season collapse! If the Sabres play like they played against the Senators and the Canadiens the past two nights, than they have a good chance to catch everybody, and skate with anyone on any given night!

As far as im concerned the way we started off might be better for us everyone knows its the last 50 games which matters the most.

Absolutely. The Sabres are very young, they are having some growing pains right now, but this is just going to make them better in the long run. Call me an ignorant homer, I don't care, the Sabres will never be out of it in my mind.

if i recall correctly, this time last year, sabres were 15-1-1 and the sens were 6-9-1, kind of a reversal of roles there and ottawa turned it around big time

That's right. Ottawa turned it around after the all star break. Division is gone. They have to focus on just climbing up the conference ladder to sneak into the playoffs. We will see if they have the heart and fortitude to do this.

Sabres are heating up lately I know I regret some of the things I've said.I will be more patient but never Darcy Regier patient.

We won't win the division but I actually like it like that. This team will still make the playoffs and they tend to be more dangerous when they are overlooked. They have never done well as favorites.
