NEW YORK (AP) -- The Yankees were told by agent Scott Boras that they could not meet with Alex Rodriguez unless they presented an extension offer that guaranteed the star $350 million "as a floor."
Boras' remarks, first reported Friday by ESPN.com, were made Oct. 25 during a conversation between the agent and general manager Brian Cashman, a baseball official said Friday, speaking on condition of anonymity because those details were not made public.
Rodriguez had $81 million remaining over the final three years of his record 10-year, $252 million contract, and the deal contained an additional $10 million escalator. The Yankees were prepared to offer him an extension worth $25 million to $30 million a season for four or five years.

I thought he only wanted a 30 mil a year type deal so it would be like a 300 mil type thing instead of 250... wow Boras is going to kill baseball

What a giant dick he is. I'm glad the Yankees didn't give A-Fraud that money; having him on any team is terrible karma. He's like Jaromir Jagr but with two fewer championships.

I think it would be great if when the whole thing gets settled he ends up making less than he was before. It's not likely, but it would be a real statement.

This just shows that A-Rod could care less about winning and is only out to better himself.

It all makes sense! If A-Rod can't make the post season...then he can't choke in the post-season. Then he looks like a better player!

If the Red Sox make the bold move to ARod, it will mean that they really have become the new Yankees, and I am okay with that. I like this winning stuff.

If the Red Sox buy A Rod we might as well just accept them as 2008 World Series Champs, provided they keep Mike Lowell.

Are you kidding me? You sound like my fellow Yankee fans, me and everyone else when the team added A-Rod in 2004. As great as he is, he's a team cancer who drags down the guys around him.
The year after A-Rod left Seattle, they won 116 games; after he was traded by the Rangers, they won more games. It's not an accident.
