Spacek Misses Practice
Dan Hager - Tuesday, October 16, 2007 - 11:53 AM
The Sabres returned to practice today after last night's thrilling come-from-behind win over the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Defenseman Jaro Spacek however did not practice with the team, prompting Lindy Ruff to shake up his lines at the morning skate.
Jason Pomminville moved back to fill the vacant position on the defense. Mike Ryan made the move to Pomminville's spot on a line with Tim Connolly and Jochen Hecht.
More information on Spacek and the rest of the Sabres will be available later today so stay tuned to WGR for all the latest.

Why is he out? Looked like a hit to the head last night.

Poms cannot be a long term solution on D.

From all the reports I've read, it's his shoulder, not his head, that is injured. So no concussion.

When i was watching the game last night and they had a close up of ruff i thought i could read the lips of the one trainer talking to ruff and i swear he said " He has a broken collar bone". I haven't heard that or confirmed that anywhere but just thought i'd mention that.

What a misleading thread, the article says nothing about him not playing. But what did I expect out of this poster.

it looked like a separated shoulder, that would be my guess

Thread scared me, all we need is our D to start getting hit by the injury big again. I havent heard anything about Teppo lately, was he put on IR or anything yet

So Poms is playin' D fri? Sekera not ready?

If Spacek can't go on Friday, they will call up Sekera. They're just not calling him up just yet, and having Pominville fill the void in practice for now. They won't call Sekera up until the last possible moment.

I think they'd call up Sekera if Spacek can't go. I have heard Ruff say Pominville is NHL caliber as a defenseman as well (this was in the preseason, when he was discussing having him on the point for the power play) so I wouldn't say it's outside of the realm of possibility to see Pominville as the 6th defenseman. Still, I'd prefer Sekera - Poms is too valuable on the front lines to lose.

Here's to confirm with a link that actually says he may miss both games...

By the way this sucks, Jaro was playing good and it sucks to see him get hurt on that hit.

That link also specifies that Pominville on defense is just a temporary stop-gap for practice. I'm excited to see Sekera. I think he could be really good.

Nice cheap shot with a great follow through on the elbow to the head. The guy starts playing exceptionally well, and of course, those hack-assed pylons from Ton-toe take out that player on a roll with a dirty shot. Classy or-gan-eye-za-shun. I hope Antropov and pretty-boy Maurice break their necks. If you can't skate with 'em, cheap-shot 'em

gimme a break it was not a cheap shot at all, it was barely even a penalty.
And there was no elbow to the head at all.

You have to feel bad for Spacek. Last year he was a goat and we all hated him and this year he seems to have turned it around. And now this happens. I can't believe I am saying this but get well soon Spacek!

Its only a couple games guys it doesnt look to be to serious let him rest it the weekend and come back next week.
This early in the year this really isnt a big deal.
I look forward to seeing what Sekera can do also I wonder if Peters will get dressed Friday as Columbus loves to throw down and we have some unresolved tention from that preseason game.

That was a good clean hit. Shouldn't have been a penalty at all.

i thnk everyone owes sabres4cup and apology. You jumped on him rather quick and groaned at him because you thought he was wrong about this story, when in fact he ended up being right.
You people are way to quick to hate!
