People do, just not football (American football) fans. It's usually an entirely different group of people.
Honest question BDuff, what does the game mean (the US/Irish) game, is it for better WC seeding or something or is it just for kicks. (no pun intended)

fair question stratton, it was just a friendly it means nothing except for fifa rankings. it is just like a pre-season football games, the starters don't necessarily play the whole game

That's not true. I and my friends are football fans and closely follow the US National Soccer team. Some of them are in Sam's Army, and traveled to France for the 1998 WC.
To generalize by saying thet Football fans don't like soccer is silly.
By the way- a friendly is an exhibition. Kind of like a preseason tuneup for the big shown in June.

Yes Judge I was generalizing and I shouldn't have. It does seem like football fans and soccer fans are mainly two separate groups and since this is a football fan board, not much love goes to soccer here. There are exceptions but that has been my experience.

ABSOLUTELY! I live and breathe World Cup when it starts- I love the WC Finals. It's a feeling like the NCAA Final 64 when it starts. I can't wait, although the Far East starting times will limit my viewing, I fear.
USA will most certainly be improved over their pathetic 1998 finish, but I agree that the team is mediocre at best- will be challenged to advance past the first round....
