View Full Version : An honest Peters question

Now everyone knows he's my favorite player. However, I really don't start threads on him. I was just wondering as he was one of 3 Sabres (Miller, Soup) to represent the team at the Press Conference yesterday.

Would you all be opposed to Peters getting an A on his sweater? He is obviously a great locker room presence and is there to lighten the mood on and off the ice.

Ray was also an A with limited playing time, and I don't think Petey would be a bad choice...of course, I could be mistaken.

Thoughts?

OK, come on. Seriously. The only enforcers in the league worthy of an A are Laraque, Brashear, and Boogie.

Peters is our guy, I may not love him, he may not be dominant, but I still support him. However, him getting an A is just not a good idea. ever. ever. like, never ever. Just getting my point across, but never.

I dont even think the guy should be on the team let alone get a A so there you have it. IMO he is a waste of a roster spot. I think a guy with a A should at least PLAY most of the games not be watching them from the box.....he got so much ice time last post season becuase of his being a great leader and deserving a A? lol id rather just see him gone...and I dont hate him. i just think he wastes a spot.

You forgot the leg braces and huge retainer, ghey19.

You wish you could use the words "tenterhooks" and "requisite" in the same sentence. :whiterabbit:

I'm no Peters fan, but I'd have no problem with that. But the "A' itself is archaic and meaningless. The A's and C's were originally instituted to designate who can talk to the ref. Watch any modern NHL game - everbody talks to the refs. People blow who is captain and assistant way out of proportion. I don't care if they freaking sew a C on Sabretooth. The only thing that's important is if they have internal leadership in the room, and player who can lead with their play on the ice. From all accounts I've read, Peters is a good presence in the room, and that's what matters.

Nothing against Peters, but I don't like giving the enforcer a letter. A captain or an assistant has to lead and be proactive. The enforcer's role is by definition reactive. There are too many young guys on this team to have a reactive leader.

Pax.

nah, he is a marginal NHL'er at best and i have never really seen any leadership qualities out of him.

You can't compare Ray and peters. Ray was soooooooo much better than peters.

to say those 3 deserve a A above Peters is dumb. Peters is a good team mate and locker room guy i think it be nice to see him with a A. Doubt it though.

Captain's, or alternate's, don't mock the opposition by miming a golf swing on the brink of that oppositions elmination from the playoffs.

So there's an honest answer to an honest question. He's not a classy leader.

One more thing: People, don't be too hard on SG. Whenever talking about his teenage crush on Peters, SG tends to be less than pragmatic.

With Campbell, Mair, Hecht, Tallinder, Lydman, Vanek, Connolly, etc. on this team, I don't think there is much, if any, chance of it happening.

Captains and Alternates have no sense of humor.

They are machines and are never cheap players ....

I rather Peters not have an A simplely because of playing time but he is a great team mate.

Warrener didn't have a sense of humor? May? Ray? These guys had a sense of humor...I don't think that has anything to do with it.

Agreed, he's talking up space. I suppose he adds some entertainment value when they're on both ends of an ass whoopen and gets things going.
