Yesterday and today on a trip alone to Toronto. I figured 3 1/2 hours in the car each way would give me a good chance to get a flavour. I got XM in my car this summer and have been curious to listen, but would face mutiny from the wife and kids if I put it on for longer than 10 minutes. On a typical 3 1/2 hour trip to the GTA, I play Top 20 hits for @an hour for the kids, the comedy channel for @ an hour for me and then 80's music for @ an hour for my wife, so a trip south alone was a chance to try new things.
Listened to Young Turks and Lionel on the way down yesterday and on the way back today and Randi Rhodes yesterday evening while driving up to my dad's @ 1 hour north of the city, which turned out to be almost two hours because of a gravel truck that went through a guardrail on the 400 around King City & traffic was stopped.
Lionel is a funny guy.
Young Turks is over the top...they were hammering the toe-tapping senator all morning yesterday.
I think I'd have to listen to Randi Rhodes another time before I form an opinion...I think it was a re-broadcast of an old show yesterday. She had some good stuff on 'Authoritative Personalities' I think pimping John Dean's book Conservatives Without Conscience,
which I haven't read yet.
Anyway, all were funny and entertaining...definitely different than most talk radio I've listened to (tends to be from a more conservative slant up here, i.e. AM640 in Toronto).
I couldn't listen to this stuff all day, that's for sure.
