Well actually Sunday morning. I just got finished burying our cat Marbles in the backyard, she died on my lap wrapped in a blanket about an hour ago. She was 12. Last week she went to the vet for constant vomitting and they said her blood count was low and she had a grade 3 heart murmur. They gave her anti-biotics in case it was some sort of bacterial infection causing the reflux but she was too far gone. The bright side is that she's not suffering and that my almost 5 year old was at my Mom's for the weekend.

I'm very sorry to hear this, my family has 3 cats. Coincidentally i just had to take the one to the vet because she had these weird scabs and lost weight, but thankfully she'll be alright.

The family pets are cherished and they are at your side daily to lose them is very sad.To all of you animal lovers I wish you and your pets good health but when that time does come cherish the memories.Sorry for your loss T4T I feel your pain.I was 14 when I made the horrible decision to step to the curb and watch my dog run ahead of me on an ice slicked road and get run over.I cried that day and never really forgot him as he accompanied me every day to deliver my papers wether it was raining, snowing or brutally hot.Your pets are truly your best friend.

Thanks guys. Get this, when she was at the vet, supposedly she nipped her after they drew blood for her tests and her attempting to give an injection of fluids to rehydrate. Since her rabies shot was almost ten years ago, she was to come back in after 10 days for a saliva test to make sure she didn't have rabies. The Tuesday after she passed, I called the vet and cancelled her appointment telling updating them - no problems. Two hours later I get a call from the Erie County Health department asking me if I had a shovel. I asked for what and the vet had requested the corpse to test the brain tissue for rabies. Mind you, this cat was indoors all her life and showed no signs of anything but cancer so I got hot. I asked if I was required or faced any financial obligations if I refused and the clerk said no, "I don't blame you at all". So rather than digging up the family pet 72 hours later, I told him no. Everything seemed good, then an hour later I get a call back from the County and there were more behavior questions, basically completing his report to a form letter. Still awaiting that info in the mail, talk about salting a wound.
My complaint was shouldn't a vet be prepared with gloves and have their own updated vaccines? If a sickly docile 12+ year old 5lb cat who never bit anyone becomes feral and lethal after being rectally prodded, physically squeezed for lumps/nodules etc, blood letted for tests, shouldn't that be somewhat expected. Needless to say, I don't think I'll return to the Broadway veterinary clinic in Lancaster again.

Thanks again for the props, its surprising how attached you can get even to a loner cat!

Hey two4, I have a cat who is a little over 1 and I couldn't even imagine losing her. Sorry for your loss, I could only imagine how I would be after 12 years with my cat Elly... Hang in there, she is in a better place.

Sorry to hear that. It's so hard to lose a pet.
