The Padilla trial and verdict is stupifying in it's mendacity.
Who in their right mind actually BELIEVES that Al Qaeda, a supposedly real terrorist outfit, asks potential recruits to fill out FIVE PAGE APPLICATION FORMS?
Are you ****ing serious?

”It was recovered by U.S. personnel in late 2001 after the United States began bombing Afghanistan,” Justice Department lawyer Stephanie Pell said, referring to Padilla’s alleged al Qaeda application.
She added it was found among 80 to 100 other mujahadeen (holy warrior) applications found in the country, which harbored al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden before he masterminded the Sept. 11, 2001, U.S. terrorist attacks.
Pell said Padilla’s July 24, 2000, application was authenticated by a ”cooperating government witness” convicted in an unrelated case who had once filled out the same Arabic ”mujahadeen data form.” She said Padilla’s date of birth, Oct. 18, 1970, was on his application along with his adopted Muslim name, Abu Abdullah Al Mujahir.
Un ****ing believeable.
America sucks.

Oh, it had 7 of his fingerprints on it!
They had him in solitary for 3 1/2 years!
But shiva, he was talking in CODE!
http://www.philly.com/dailynews/national/20070817_White_House_hails_Padilla_verdict.html
Central to the investigation were some 300,000 FBI wiretap intercepts collected from 1993 to 2001, mainly involving Padilla's co-defendants Hassoun and Jayyousi and others. Most of the conversations were in Arabic and purportedly used code such as "tourism" and "football" for violent jihad or "zucchini" and "eggplant" instead of military weapons or ammunition. *
Jesus, THEY'RE SOOOOOO ****ING SINISTER!

From the philly.com link...
Members of the jury declined interview requests from the media and were escorted out of the courthouse through a side exit by U.S. marshals.
The New York Times, however, reached one juror, who asked that her name not be used. She said in a telephone interview that she had all but made up her mind before deliberations began.
"We had to be sure," the juror said in Spanish. "We wanted to make sure we went through all the evidence. But the evidence was strong, and we all agreed on that."

I would say Americans get a "10" on the dumbness scale.
Canadians get a 9.99.
Except for a select few, most of whom post on this board.
BTW Shives, Thank you for recommending "Spycatcher". I'm about halfway through, excellent stuff. This might surprise Dougie. He thinks I can't read.

I'm glad you're enjoying it.
My favorite James Bond novels were the one's set in the 50's and 60's.
The car chase in Moonraker between the Bentley and Mercedes SSK was awesome.
Spycatcher is the reality behind the fiction.
I found it incredibly funny that people would try and put off Wright by calling him a "conspiracy theorist".
The more things change...

Dear Osama
With the fall of the great Satan's dollar, TOURISM is cheap, so I thought I'd go to Buffalo and catch some FOOTBALL.
Since I am a vegetarian, I will bring my own ZUCCHINI and EGGPLANT to throw on Pinto Ron's grill.
Go Bills!

America sucks.
I'm just amazed at how incredibly stupid people can be. This "form" is hilarious. What would have really given away the gag would have been these questions:
1. Sexual Orientation.
2. Gender.
And people would STILL believe the form was legit! LOL
