That was cool! I walked down to the lake @ 10 mins from my house and as soon as I could get the streetlights at enough distance, I saw about 10 meteors drop, looking south west at @ 12:30 AM

I was out by myself, though...bears are in my neighborhood, so I chickened out about walking a little further into the bush to get further away from the streetlights.

Although I have seen 3 shooting stars in 5 nights prior.... hmmmm

Went out last night @ 5 miles out of town 10-11 pm & saw about a dozen meteorites in an hour.

We heard something crashing around in the bush behind us so skedaddled quickly after that. It was probably rabbits on a run or a deer, but you never know...bear and panthers have been sighted in the area.

Meteor showers occur when the earth crosses the path of a comet. The "shooting stars" are meteorite particles that were left in the comet's trail.

I was in allegany state park all last week. I saw at least 35 within a cpl days.
