I can't believe how loyal my family is to the Catholic Church.

Look at this priest in Australia. Trust me. A LOT of them are like this. I found this link on CNN.

Warning: Substantial profanity in this video.

It's easy to see how this organization is the most bloodthirty and murderous group in the history of civilization.

My born-again sister says that the anti-christ will be the pope. If there is a God then I believe it. It will be him.

Now catholics. When are you going to ask Rome to ex-communicate me? I've been begging for it for years.

I still cannot believe my mother still goes to church after all that has transpired in my family

I am also a recovering catholic and choose to stay away from the church. Many in my family are still heavily involved and I don't understand it, but I will say that the priest who leads the church in Buffalo where I grew up is not like the rotten ones that are all over the place. It is unfair to paint a broad brush over all catholics as bad or evil; there are some good ones out there. However, with the new Pope it sounds like things in the church are headed backwards.

wow I log onto the range today only to find that it has become Foxe's Book of Martyrs

Speaking of Foxe's Book of Martyrs -well worth a read- find out why (in a broader historical context) it is so important to the history of the United Kingdom and the establishment of many of the 13 colonies in To Rule the Waves by Arthur Herman.

hate to burst your bubble, but quite frankly you are not important enough in the grand scheme of things to them. I think the only way they excommunicate you nowadays comes with a lengthy prison sentence as you'd probably have to gun down a priest, blow up a convent or monastary, or vandalize EWTN.

They are little shits to be honest. I wholeheartedly agree. But that was an opprotunity for a church leader to show an example and unfortunately what he showed was the worst. Just disgusting.

I don't expect too much out of punks. I wish I could. But you should expect more out of a clergyman.

i would expect more out of a clergyman...but he is still a man. people say really stupid shit in bad situations like that one. it is not at all unusual for anyone to get freaked out when being surrounded by a large group of confrontational people. He obviously lost his temper.

I hardly see the indictment of the church in that video...i see a man reacting(not well) to a very poor, and probably scary situation.

Well. He is supposed to be advanced enough in his faith to NOT do that kind of crap. Otherwise he should be a rank and file priest. He's supposed to be a leader by example. And my title is "More exposure.."

There is a LOT of dirty crap about my ex-faith that people need to see and a few of us have started showing just that. It's the PRS anyways, right?

I don't shout anyone down. I've just never backed away from engaging in here.
So, if the pastor of a priest behaves that way then I guess the flock will from time to time not be too bothered with being "just men", huh?

That's a copout for bad behavior. I wouldn't expect you to tolerate it on your job, in fact I don't think you do, nor would I expect you to excuse it here with the case in point of the priest. I mean MPW, racist comments?

i am not excusing what he did how is saying "i would expect more out of a clergyman" me excusing his behavior?

i would also expect more out of most teenagers, that was a classic example of a mob intimidating someone...i know its disappointing that the mob wasnt the church in this case.

i am failing to see what this really has to do with the church, but then i am not in the habit of judging an entire group on the actions of a few members

He could have called the police, maintained his integrity, and those punks would have been taught a lesson. It's called trespassing. Don't give me that
crap that I'm disappointed. The punks I unfortunately have come to expect. So that shouldn't shock. Repulse? Yes. Shock? No. A pastor making racist comments should repulse and shock.

Pay attention MPW. A lot is posted here on the Roman Empire. This isn't the cornerstone of the case that this institution is rotten. For the record, it's not personal. Most of my family, who believe it or not I do love, are practicing catholics. I'd just like them and others to see the absurdity in it.

Pay attention? to what the arrogant rants against those who believe in god that are the norm here?

You are absolutely right he should have called the Police, and I am familiar with the crime of Trespassing.

He made a mistake, lots of people do in stressful situations. He should be embarrassed and probably is. He should probably also be disciplined by the church, and probably was. That is about the extent of it, it doesn't show any grand problem in the church IMO

Just another piece of the bigger picture here. I've posted other stuff before. Rants if you want to decree them. Like I care what you think.

Wait until I post about the various Boys Club scandals.
