Does this make sense to anyone? The Sabres are not in the market for another 5'9'' Center. Does anyone really think that the Sabres are going to add anything to this roster from now until camp?

My feeling is that people around the league are trying to use the Sabres to drum up the market for certain players, most likely, Centers and Defensemen (Peca, Cammalleri, Avery, Sutton, Souray among others). I think its widely believed that since Buffalo lost their big 2, they must be desperate to make a big move. Its probabaly the agents for these players that are floating Buffalo's name out there. Its getting to the point where every time I read the Sabres name attached to a rumor I laugh, because they aren't adding any salary. If they do make a move it will be subtracting a salary like Kalinin or Spacek.

Just venting, thanks for listening.

The Cammalleri rumors make no sense whatsoever. If Los Angeles, which has all kinds of cap space, actually walks away from this guy, the Kings are both incredibly stupid and incredibly cheap. He's one of the kids they should be building around. And even if Cam does somehow become available, he wouldn't bring any uniqueness to the Sabres, who, as you said, already have a small, young center in Derek Roy.

If the Sabres bring in anyone else, I hope it's a stay-at-home defenseman via trade (Aaron Ward, Jay McKee (pipe dreams 'r us), etc.). I wouldn't mind Avery either; he'd provide something Buffalo doesn't have -- a mid-line forward who annoys the hell out of the opposition and also has some skill. He's a slightly poorer man's Darcy Tucker.

Eklund brought the subject up, FYI.

I wouldnt mind seeing Cammalleri in a sabres uni (i know, i know, its not gonna happen). Being from the LA area, i have gotten the opportunity to watch him play alot, and i really like what i see.

Why would the Kings let him go?

Why would the Kings let him go?

Because Pelle needs something to write about during the dog-days of August.

did LA even make him an offer yet ? TSN reported a week or so ago the talks are at a impass. Granted i can see the kings letting him go, but it would be via trade. They'd be stupid to walk away from him

Unless you're thinking of a sign-and-trade type deal, which doesn't happen very often in the NHL, the Kings can't trade him after the arbitration ruling. Either they pick up the option or walk away.

I don't give a damn how tall he is, he's a great hockey player, and I'd take him on my team anyday. I can't believe the Kings would give him up for nothing though.

I could see him fitting in if the Sabres moved some salary out. The most logical would be Spacek or Kalinin (3.3 or 2.5) and a center (Cammalleri is a C). I also wouldn't be surprised if Kotalik got the boot.

Cammalleri will end up getting very similar to what Roy got 4 mil a year in arb. But the Sabres would have to work out a new contract with Cammalleri and work out and work out a trade with the Kings before tomorrows arb hearing. If the Kings walk away from this...they're stupid. He'll be a King, no way he's not.

Why are their 2 threads minimum on anyone that is discussed in bullshit rumors to go to the Sabres?

The offseason sucks.

In other news, Mike Comrie is banging Hillary Duff. True Story. Discuss...
