by the FBI and the IRS at this hour.
The Alaska senator is being looked at by the Justice Department due to his relationship with a wealthy contractor;it's part of a public corruption investigation.
More to come...

Individual senators can have alot of influence if they have seniority.
Alaska has 3 votes, by the way. 627,000 people.

Wyoming has less than half a million...and Cheney votes multiple times.

That is exactly why I giggle at the people that want general election results over the electorate. It would be pure silliness.

Some more insights...

It could be worse: He could have heard these words...."Sen. Stevens,I'm Chris Hansen from Dateline NBC."

I never liked this hack. If he had his way, the entire state of Alaska (yes, i've been there and YES, it is effing GORGEOUS) would be turned into an industrial waste dump. So the enviro-hippie in me wants him to burn at the stake.
And yet, i understand that Alaska has a lot of opportunities if and only if it's plethora of natural resources are harvested. Tough call. No industrialization, no jobs. Worse still, there are people that went up there to cut down trees and dig up oil only to find that they're federally regulated later on after they've already moved. Now they're out of a job...
Tough situation. As always, a responsible policy would allow for wood and oil and etc to be used in an environmentally friendly way. But i'd rather just give Mother earth this little corner of the world. Hell we've taken everything else from her. Give her this one beautiful place.

That's an interesting angle there sukie.
The election is more important to you than rooting out corruption in the government.
What is it? You don't mind corruption as long as it's the Gambino Family (republicans) in control of the table?
So what's more important is not the cleansing of the corruption, but whether there are enough votes for the Gambinos to maintain control?

Kudos to Pete for calling out his buddy on a silly observation. Let's keep our eye on the prize here, folks (ie - ridding our politics of corruption). Isn't it just like a Republican to deflect and try and take a conversation like this in another, meaningless direction?
Hugs and kisses, sukie. http://floridasportsman.com/art/smooch.gif

Thanks Mik. But I do need to point out one more observation.
Mik there are scores of threads here where democrats do the exact same thing.

You are smarter than that to know what a metaphor is. And if you are not then I wouldn't embarrass yourself with admitting it.
Therefore my guess is that my post stung a little. And your response is meant to deflect that just a bit.

It's not right no matter what red, white, and blue animal you wear on your lapel at campaign time.

Interesting that they're hitting such a senior guy though - hopefully they just keep on going. If nothing else, the laws will get changed on no-knock raids. :D
