Is everyone who is against a universal system is in favour of repealing all taxpayer funded subsidies to HMOs?
Before 2002 Americans were abandoning the largely inefficient, costly, privately run health organizations. Why stay with an HMO, risk denial of coverage or bankruptcy when they could sign with Medicaid?
Enrollment to private carriers was declining so badly early this decade, a huge HMO lobby aimed to dramaticlly increase the number of loans, grants and subisidies under the HMO act (which already provided generous sums to HMOs).
Even the man responsible for shifting billions of dollars from public to private health care said he didn't expect HMOs to receive as much as they did.
I mean, it's the free market isn't it?
HMOs say they can't survive without the public purse. Can't survive without feeding on the government tit?
Are you kidding me?
Why should HMOs recieve welfare? Why should U.S. taxpayers bail them out?
It's the law of the market jungle here, no excuses.
If the market demands inefficient callous HMOs die, than let the crows have them.
Either way, HMOs shouldn't be receiveing squat from the taxpayers.
