Yesterday the ENTIRE ****ING SENATE voted for this piece of bellicose bullshit.
Un-****ing-believeable.
Sure, the brains behhind it were the three Republican stooges, Lieberman, McCain and Graham, along with two wannabes, Kyl and Norm Coleman.
But for God's sake, the whole group voted for this. Not ONE person to stand up and say wait a ****ing minute.
There's only one party, the War Party.

Lieberman, McCain, Kyl, Graham, and Coleman Offer Iran Amendment
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Senators Lieberman, McCain, Kyl, Graham, and Coleman today introduced a bipartisan amendment to the Defense Authorization Act, confronting the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran over its proxy attacks on American soldiers in Iraq.
The amendment details the publicly available evidence put forward over the past year by General David Petraeus, commanding general of Multi-National Force Iraq, and others about Iran’s violent and destabilizing activities in Iraq.
The amendment states that “the murder of members of the United States Armed Forces by a foreign government or its agents is an intolerable act of hostility against the United States,” and demands the government of Iran “take immediate action” to end all forms of support it is providing to Iraqi militias and insurgents. The amendment also mandates a regular report on Iran’s anti-coalition activity in Iraq.
“For many months, our military commanders and diplomats have warned us that the Iranian government has been training, equipping, arming, and funding proxies in Iraq who are murdering our troops,” said Senator Lieberman. “This amendment is a common sense, common ground statement of the Senate to Tehran: we know what you are doing, and you must stop.”
“American officials attest that the government in Teheran seeks to bleed the United States and render unsuccessful our efforts to bring about a stable and self-governing in Iraq,” said Senator McCain. “This amendment will send a clear signal: Iran’s activities in Iraq are wrong, and they must end immediately.”
“The Iranians are attempting to thwart our policies in the Middle East by actively supporting terrorists who are killing our troops in Iraq,” said Senator Kyl. “It is time we acknowledge this hostility against us, and this amendment tells the Iranians we will not tolerate any actions which threaten our troops or allies.”
“The evidence is increasingly clear the Iranian government is working to destabilize the Iraqi government,” said Senator Graham. “It is long past time for Congress to speak out about this destructive behavior by Iran. We need one voice, and I expect it will be a unified bipartisan voice, speaking out and condemning these actions by the Iranian government.”
“The United States will not tolerate Iran’s hostile attempts to sabotage our efforts in the Middle East region,” said Senator Coleman. “On my last trip to Iraq, our Minnesota troops in Southern Iraq showed me Iranian-made explosives that were used against them on convoy missions. This crucial amendment makes it clear to the Iranian government, and any other government in the region that seeks to harm our soldiers, that providing any form of support to Iraqi insurgents will not be tolerated and must cease immediately.”

Down in the Flood: The Senate's Blank Check for War on Iran
As you may know -- unless you rely on the corporate media for your news, of course -- yesterday the U.S. Senate unanimously declared that Iran was committing acts of war against the United States: a 97-0 vote to give George W. Bush a clear and unmistakable casus belli for attacking Iran whenever Dick Cheney tells him to.
The bipartisan Senate resolution – the brainchild (or rather the bilechild) of Fightin' Joe Lieberman – affirmed as official fact all of the specious, unproven, ever-changing allegations of direct Iranian involvement in attacks on the American forces now occupying Iraq. The Senators appear to have relied heavily on the recent New York Times story by Michael Gordon that stovepiped unchallenged Pentagon spin directly onto the paper's front page. As Firedoglake points out, John McCain cited the heavily criticized story on the Senate floor as he cast his vote.
It goes without saying that all of this is a nightmarish replay of the run-up to the war of aggression against Iraq: The NYT funneling false flag stories from Bush insiders. Warmongers citing the NYT stories as "proof" justifying any and all action to "defend the Homeland." Credulous and craven Democratic politicians swallowing the Bush line hook and sinker.
To be sure, stout-hearted Dem tribunes like Dick Durbin insisted that their support for declaring that Iran is "committing acts of war" against the United States should not be taken as an "authorization of military action." This is shaky-knees mendacity at its finest. Having officially affirmed that Iran is waging war on American forces, how, pray tell, can you then deny the president when he asks (if he asks) for authorization to "defend our troops?" Answer: you can't. And you know it.
This vote is the clearest signal yet that there will be no real opposition to a Bush Administration attack on Iran. This is yet another blank check from these slavish, ignorant goons; Bush can cash it anytime. This is, in fact, the post-surge "Plan B" that's been mooted lately in the Beltway. As you recall, there was much throwing about of brains on the subject of reviving the "Iraq Study Group" plan when the "surge" (or to call it by its right name, the "punitive escalation") inevitably fails. Bush put the kibosh on that this week ("Him not gonna do nothin' that Daddy's friends tell him to do! Him a big boy, him the decider!"), but that doesn't mean there isn't a fall-back position – or rather, a spring-forward position: an attack on Iran, to rally the nation behind the "war leader" and reshuffle the deck in Iraq.

While I think the allegations behind this act, that Iran is behind a fair amount of the violence directed toward US troops and Iran is indeed working to keep Iraq destabilized, I don't think this act has much in the way of teeth. I hope the US treads very carefully before it ratchets up hostilities with Iran any more. I think we have to account for how Russia and China might react.

I don't think it was meant to be a green light to invade Iran.

Ignorance, pure ignorance.
With diabetes, serum glucose levels fluctuate most wildly, and are most difficult to control, during periods of physical or emotional stress. Add the two together and your buddy who's supposed to watch your back is passed out on the side of the road.

Okay you want something done. How expensive would it be to put a couple dozen UAVs with hellfire missiles and if you see troops crossing the boarder between Iran and Iraq then blow them the hell up. Or, since in an article posted by JLB (and as humorously alluded to by the Daily Show, just let Al Qaeda fight Iran because after all the enemy of my enemy is my friend. Al Qaeda doesn't like Iran becuase Iran is arming the Shia militias who are fighting them, well all we have to do is get Al Qaeda to fight Iran and our problem is solved. Sounds strange doesn't it? Oh well war makes strange bedfellows.

Lieberman: US will back Israeli strike on Iran
Israeli Minister of Strategic Affairs Avigdor Lieberman said on Tuesday that he received the tacit blessing of Europe and the United States for an Israeli military strike on Iran's nuclear facilities.
“If we start military operations against Iran alone, then Europe and the US will support us,” Lieberman told Army Radio following a meeting earlier in the week with NATO and European Union officials.
Lieberman said the Western powers acknowledged the severity of the Iranian nuclear threat to the Jewish state, but said that ongoing conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq are “going to prevent the leaders of countries in Europe and America from deciding on the use of force to destroy Iran's nuclear facilities,” even if diplomacy ultimately fails.
The message Lieberman said the NATO and EU officials conveyed to him is that Israel should “prevent the threat herself.”

I mean the acting of the commander guy was terrible in the first one and I really don't think the acting will be any better this time around.
Hmmm, have I seen this movie before? Lets see
1)
Iran hates Israel and Ameninajad is a dangerous man who must be dealt with
- John Hagee
Iraq hates Israel and Hussein is a mad man who must be dealt with
- John Hagee
2) Iran wants Weapons of Mass Destruction and is working on obtaining nooklar weapons
Saddam Hussein is a dictator who is addicted to weapons of mass destruction and wants nooklar weapons and he has been obtaining uranium from Africa
-George W. Bush
3) Iran is not in compliances with UN resolutions
- Condi Rice
Iraq is not compliant with UN resolution ......
- Colin Powell
4) The Iranian People want democracy and freedom
- George Bush
The Iraqi People want democracy and will welcome us as liberators
- George Bush
5) Iran is a threat to stability in the region and to global security as a whole
- George Bush
Iraq is a danger to her neighbors and must be dealt with
- George Bush
and now
Iran is tied to Al Qaeda
Ties exist between Osama Bin Laden and Saddam Hussein

Coal, not neccessarily (unless you are doing everything you can to limit the emitting of dangerous pollutants, daming rivers, actually we have enough of these, and as for nuclear power absolutely. Yucca mountain is the perfect spot to dump nuclear material and is away from any water table, is solid, and in a dry and remote area, and according to Penn And Teller transporting the waste is very safe. As for the plants themselves well nuclear power is the cleanest, and most efficient source of energy we have and it would make a hell of a lot of sense that if you built them to high quality specifications they would provide electricity for decades to come. As for petrol, well lets develop more hybrids and since we have the technology to build hydrogen powered cars lets put more R&D into building a safe, mass producable type, that will be affordable to joe average consumer within say a decade (oddly I would agree with Bush's 2006 state of the union speech about this whole heartedly). As for stopping imports, absolutely not as that cripples trade and the economy (I am for a well regulated free market economy not the death of the economy) As for shrinking stores and making shopping a breeze, how about no but how about working on mass transit systems. I find it sad that outside of a a smattering of our largest cities there is not reliable rail transport.
