Going into their contract negotiations both Ruff and Regier had to know there was a good chance that they would be starting the next season without Drury and Briere. Ruff and Regier could have easily moved on to another team for top dollar as both were heralded as being amongst the best at what they do. Since they both stayed, at a discount, I'm guessing that they feel losing Drury and Briere was an obstacle that they would be able to deal with and overcome.

you make a good point, and coming back down to earth, Darcy Regier is a smart man. I would bet they prepared for this to happen...If I were the GM, I would prepare for the absolute worst and know how you will respond to it.
