When the government no longer works for the MAJORITY of the people at what point do the people rise up and abolish and/or change the government? According the Preamble of the Constitution the power of government comes from the people. We also live in a representative democracy where we elect officials to speak for us in government.
However, these foundations of our government have been being abused for quite some time.
1. The War in Iraq--A majoirty of people in the U.S. want out of Iraq. The people spoke and gave the power of Congres to the Democrats by removing the Republicans. The Democrats have failed to give in to what the Majoirty of people want and people are still dying and billions are still being spent.
2. Immigration Bill--You cannot find a poll that supports this bill. Meaning a HUGE MAJORITY of Americans--get it--do not want this plan to happen. Yet Congress and the President are pushing for it and it very well may pass.
Popular Sovereignty has been applied to the above and yet our government has failed to listen. At what point is some sort of revolution justified?
