If it is true, good. Anything the Sabres feel they need to do to make money, I'm all for. More power to 'em.

Will the Sabres use this money to sign Drury ? They had better. No meaningless regular season games for me.

Probably because the Bills are the worst team in the history of football. A high school team would knock them down a few pegs.

Hey, it's better than the Bills' 20-week preseason, am I right? Of course I am.

That's for a-holes like yourself that bitch when the Bills raise their prices. I don't waste my money on the meaningless 84 preseason hockey schedule.

Do you understand that the "meaningless preseason" is what gets you in the playoffs? So its really not meaningless. BTW, its 82 games in a NHL season.

Hahahaha...I love how some Bills fans think they actually have something over Sabres fans. What is it with Bills fans like you?

It's like they have an inferiority complex because the Sabres have been so successful during the last couple years, where the Bills have only been a few notches above a complete joke for almost a decade.

Get a ****in' clue. We're all Buffalo sports supporters here. Have you got something to prove being a Bills fan? What have you got to prove?? I'm a huge Bills fan too. I just prefer the sport of Hockey over the sport of Football.

And if bitching about ticket prices bothers you, I'll play devil's advocate. At least the Sabres give their hard core fans a reason to pay more, unlike the 0'fer 7 years-without-a-playoff-birth-Bills.

I'm not one to ever bitch about the Bills raising ticket prices. But if you're going to come in here and puff out you psuedo-proud Bills chest, I'm going to poke holes in it. You deserve it with that kind of unwarranted holier-than-thou attitude.

Actuallly I really don't mind the increase as long as it's used to pay players.
My problem is when the Bills raise prices up to a whole $40 some dollars a game everyone throws a big hissy fit. The $8 is meaninless to me and the raise in the Bills parking is also meaningless.
If Drury and Briere both walk I would have to question the ticket raise though if was a die hard fan. Since I'm not it doesn't even matter that much to me. Their real problem is they are too soft to win it all and until thats changed it doesn't matter how many "Presidents" they win.

The problem is that no one in here mentioned that they had a problem with the hike in ticket prices. The other problem is that no one is arguing with you're assessment that the Sabres were, when all is said an done, too soft, or not good enough to win it all this year. Yesterday, the head coach and the GM addressed that very issue. A bit of a new direction is in order, as they conceded. You're arguing with yourself.

If Drury and Briere both walk (at least 1 of them will be retained), and they still somehow spend 17 million dollars on replacements and re-signing Vanek, Roy, Mair, etc., and the payroll exceeds the 44 million mark of last year, they are still justified in raising ticket prices.

So teams like the Detroit Lions and Arizona Cardinals who have won exactly one playoff game each since the 1950's are better than the Bills?

Does anyone on this board understand the concept of sarcasm? I have a post in this thread right above this that even says I was being sarcastic. Good Lord.

If I hate the Bills, why is Trent Edwards in my sig? Why do I live and die with them each Sunday during the season? I was making a joke.

You get a thank you from me. I really don't get this pseudo-rivalry that has developed between Bills fans and Sabre fans. When last I checked they are both our teams and play two different sports. I will always support both teams. I will never bitch about the Sabres or Bills raising ticket prices as it is a necessary part of doing business in big league sports.

This "pseudo-rivalry" comes from this made-up concept that the Sabres are hurting the Bills' future in Buffalo. The Sabres sold out all their home games (including preseason) while half the Bills games were blacked out. With all the talk about the Bills moving, it didn't look good To some people like eyedog and others, there's this concept that Sabres fans would be responsible for the team moving to LA, and that people are neglecting their duty to the city of Buffalo or something like that. I remember back in October or November, one poster in the Bills section of this board actually said (paraphrasing) that it was a shame that people were spending money on the Sabres, and that they should be spending it on the Bills, like it was some immoral or unethical tragedy. I don't get it. I remember people were saying something similar about Golisano when he bought the team back in 2003. There were some self-righteous Bills-fans that said he should have saved his money to buy the Bills, and let the Sabres go by the wayside, despite the fact that the Sabres were on the verge of bankruptcy, and the Bills were financially stable.

As far as the tickets prices go, people aren't complaining because a). the Sabres are putting out a very good product right now, worth paying to see., and b) the raise isn't that high. I don't see anyone bitching about the Bills prices like eyedog suggests, but if there is complaining, it's because the raise is higher ($40 a game), and the Bills have put out a crap product for the better part of a decade. Who wants to pay more to see a team that hasn't been to a playoff game since the Y2K scare? The complaining would be justified.

Whoever thinks the Bills and Sabres both can't be supported in this money deprived town needs to realize that all home games for both teams for the 2007-2008 season have sold out (or will most likely).

Buffalo teams put a good team on the field/ice with a glimmer of hope...we will come and support you - I believe at any cost.

Your points are all valid. I for one will never pit the teams against each other. They are both my teams and always will be. Granted I have Bills season tickets, so I went to every one of their games, and went to no Sabre games last year. This wasn't because I favor the Bills over the Sabres, it is because my work schedule and the Sabres playing most of their home games on weeknights precludes me from also buying Sabre season tickets, and whatever games I would be able to go to, were sold out.

If anyone appears provoked in this thread, its your pal, eyedog. How stupid will you feel when Drury signs a contract before July 1st? Make sure you stick around so that you can try and save whatever face you have left.

Doomsday is a pretty ridiculous word to use. Because either way, the Sabres have a lot of money to spend and will take advantage of that, as Larry Quinn has already stated.

As of now, they have $19 million free (maybe more), and that doesn't include the possibility of trading Kalinin, Kotalik and/or Spacek and getting their salaries off the books. At the very least, I expect one of them traded on draft day.
