Are there any big time stars in wrestling anymore....?

When The Rock and Austin and DX were around it was cool..... it just seems that there really aren't any stars in wrestling anymore. Sure you've got the old guys like undertaker and hbk....but if John Cena is the best they can do then its pretty much in trouble.

There's still Flair. I think Bobby Lashley is the next big star. They are really pushing him and he seems like a pretty intelligent guy. Triple H should be back soon, hopefully they won't lose DX. Batista seems like a big name as well, but he is stuck on Smackdown, definitely not their best show.

Well what hurt them was the fact that The Rock was so damn good at the interview portions of the show...everyone else looks dumb in comparison.

Flair is old and can barely wrestle though... and Lashley sucks on the mic.

i think they made a mistake in the branding...they should all wrestle on raw and and the other shows.

Their biggest draw is Cena. That's why he has been champ for forever. It has nothing to do with his wrestling or mic skills, but rather he is their top earner (without having the numbers I'm sure his merchandise sells at the highest numbers). But other top young guys are Batista, Lashley, Edge, and Orton (if he ever gets back in the WWE's good graces).

I just got out of a meeting with a client who knows him. Her son wrestled with him in college at Missouri Valley. She likes him as a person, said he's a pretty nice guy, but there was definitely no doubt in her mind that he's 'roiding. As she put it, how do you gain 100 lbs of muscle after graduating from college.

Kids seem to love Batista. When my boys saw him, it was in a smaller, and half filled arena. The noise was deafening when he came out though. At least 3 times the noise level of any other wrestler there. He's got it. Not enough to carry the entire WWE, but he's got star quality now.

From what I saw, the WWE could use some new blood, or at least new characters. It could even come from within for all I know. For instance, I'm old enough to remember Stone Cold when he was Stunning Steve Austin. Good wrestler, nothing specacular though. He went for years before developing the Stone Cold personna. Maybe someone else can do it too.

People like Austin and the Rock are rare occurrence's.

One of the biggest problems is that there is no place for these guys to develop. They get into the WWE developmental territories and brought up way too soon. (i.e Lashley).

I have always thought they could do more with Shelton Benjamin, as his athleticsim is off the charts. They need to market him that way.

I agree with you about Flair, but he still seems to draw them in. I would like to see them do away with the branding and see them on all the shows. It seems like they are doing this quite often with Raw and ECW, as Lashley is on a lot.

I agree 100%. I never liked it in the first place. They should combine all the brands and make Raw a 3 Hour show on Monday nights. I don't even watch Smackdown/ECW. I'll read what happened on SD every once and a while, but really don't care. I used to order all the PPV's now I'm only down to the major 4

I flipped it on last night and that match between the crime time guys and whoever that was they were fighting was pretty cool...lots of cool moves.

They tried. There was a time where he was IC champ aeven when he wasen't champ he was in the storyline for that title for quite some time. But the thing with Benjamin is that he f's up too much in the ring when he tries to go for the big time athletic move. I think it's his mess ups in the ring that have kept him from being pushed furthur.

Does Booker T still wrestle? He used to be great.

Does Booker T still wrestle? He used to be great.

Right now,no. He's dealing with chronic knee pain,as well as neck and elbow problems. He underwent successful knee surgery where they took a bone fragment stuck in his joint recently. Booker should be back by the end of the month.

(that's my lucky post....aka 7,777th on the Range.)
