When we took our boys to see it, my youngest was 5 at the time. He went to the theater with his Batman Begins mask, sound effect gloves, and cape.

He spent half the movie with his head buried in my wife's chest with his eyes closed.

A little too dark for him.

Batman Begins didn't do much for me. I realize it followed the Dark Knight comic books, but I think it was the whole, going-to-Tibet-and-studying-combat-under-some-great-master routine.

Star Wars kind of burned out the concept.

Watching a superhero study under some fighting zen master seems overworked.

That's why I always liked Spiderman, a self-taught superhero.

Batman has his Tibet people, baby Superman had his father filling his head with mush on his journey to Earth.

At most, Peter Parker had his unemployed uncle telling him "with great power comes great responsibility"

Everything else, he had to pick up on the streets.

I don't really watch any of those movies for the story line or dialogue anyways. I judge them by the special effects. I like leaving saying, "how the hell did they film that?"

PS, it'll be tough to beat Nicholson as the Joker.

Batman Begins, to me, is easily the best Batman movie ever. When I sat down to watch it I was skeptical, but I ended up highly impressed. The ultra-hot Katie Holmes won't be in this one, unfortunately, but it should be great nonetheless.

Batman begins rocked...

I know what you're saying Gil, in regards to the training... but I've always wondered how Batman became badass....because he's not really a super hero like Spiderman or Superman.... he's a regular human whos just really badass....

Sure Spiderman learned to be a superhero on his own...but he could also stick to walls, was super strong and agile and could shoot webs out of his hands....

Superman is, well... Superman...how could he NOT become a superhero...

Batman however need to rely on his technology...but I never really knew how he became pretty much a ninja....until they made a movie about that part of his life.

yeah id say it was a little dark for kids, maybe they'll appreciate it when they get older.

as comic book fan i think batman begins was the movie comic book fans had been waiting for.

i think this movie set itself a part from the whole genre of comic films. it was the closest adaptation to the comic than any in the genre. the build up of how he became batman is kind of what made the movie(for me at least). the story was an A+.

however i know a lot of people who arent comic fans who were a little dissapointed in the whole build up and story, i think the non-comic followers couldnt connect w/ this adaptation because of it.

see a lot of people make this mistake. batman does have a super power - its his mind.

yeah he has his gadgets and all that but if you follow the comics or if you've watched any of the cartoons(particularly justice league - i highly recomend it), in the comics he's known as "the dark knight detective" because he is one smart dude.

in the justice league cartoons they really show off just how smart he is.

I cant wait for this movie. I am such a super hero nerd. I dont read the comics, but I was raised on the 90's Batman and Spiderman Cartoons. Batman Begins was not only my favorite comic movie but one of my favorites in general.

I think people are going to be let down by Heath Ledger as the Joker because they are going to be expecting to see him playing Nicholson's Joker. Im expecting a serious departure, already evident by the first picture of him.

He's extremely intelligent...i get that... but its not that radiation made him that way...or him being an alien made him that way....

i understand that i was just saying his IQ gets overlooked when ppl try to compare him to other superheroes - like a superman.

and sorry if i mislead anyone by saying his super power was his mind. he is just really smart.

I too was pretty happy with Batman Begins. Christian Bale for me was the reason why I enjoyed it so much. He is just a world class actor and an incredible upgrade from George Clooney and Val Kilmer. Chris Nolan defintely got the mood of the film right, compared to the more goofy story Tim Burton shot in the early nineties. I like the more serious type comic book movies and also the aspect of how Batman was humanized in the last movie.

I can't wait for the next one, is Christian Bale still signed on for the role?

Bale's contract was for 3 films, which means he is doing The Dark Knight, and its eventual sequel
