"They were trying their hardest to give it to us, but their goalie decided that he didn't want to let anything by him," Corvo said.
No, Joe. The refs were trying their hardest to give it to you, but you still couldn't win.
Who does this guy think he is? Corvo's been an irrelevant player his whole career, and now he thinks he can mouth off like a superstar? I despise him.

You really need to give up on the ref conspiracy theory, it's quite sad. Every penalty goes against the Sabres is a bad call and every call going against the Sens is a good call right? lolhttp://www.nhl.com/nhl/app?service=page&page=Recap&gameNumber=314&season=20062007&gameType=3

No surprise, they are mad because the Sabres chose to fight back.It will get worse next game as the blood begins to boil.

Every fan board I read has this underlying theme from time to time. Now, havving said that it certainly felt lopsided (though I dont have the numbers in front of me). I actually chimed in on this on an Islanders board (gently) just before they banned me because they figured out I wasnt an Isle's fan.
You also have to understand that Buffalo fans have had their share of bad calls in huge games that go against us. So much so that it is part of our collective fan psyche that makes us believe without knowing that there is something more sinister at work (remember the X Files reference to Buffalo by the Smoking Man?).
Once again, however, it does seem that both sides were allowed to get away with the blue line obstruction--unlike a good portion of the regular season. New Rules to make the game faster? Not in the playoffs. Its too bad, alst night was hugely exciting, imagine how much faster it would've been had these two teams been judged with regular season officiating efficiency.
BTW: Were the Sens fans really "boo'ing" Emery just before the second period burst by the Sens?
Intersting, local radio led off with a piece this morning at 6am about the Sens canceling a pre-game party due to bad weather. Not sure if this was a gag or not (help us out here Poseidon). FYI-the rainiest pre-game party here in Buffalo still turned out nearly 3000 in Buffalo.
Much to my fellow Buffalonian's credit more than 10,000 turned out to watch an away game in Buffalo last night. Not bad considering Detroit turned out nearly this amount for its first home game in their series with Anaheim. Hockeytown, my Butt.

so he told the truth and thats bad? the Sabres DID try to cough it up there at the end of the 2nd period and what kept them in it was Miller..IMO that part of the quote is the TRUTH and I see nothing wrong with it...Sabres were also WAY outplayed in the 3rd but Miller did not let anything by...I have absolutely no problem with the statement cause to me its true, Buff got a 3 goal lead and then tried real hard to cough it up(once again...almost like say a 2 goal lead...) but Miller did not let any more by.

Not sure what was up with the party and why it was cancelled to be honest.
As far as someone saying the penalties were lobsided, that often has to do with the pressure put on the other teams zone. I believe Ottawa still carried the play for the most part. It was not as strong a showing as their previous games (especially game 3) but it still showed that Buffalo has to play better and/or we need to play worse. I thought we got shafted in game 3 with penalty calls.
The booing was not really warranted by the fans but I would say they were booing the team as a whole. I don't agree with it and I don't speak for the fans.
I am not debating quality of fans between the two cities on this board and never had. Fans here are too green and too fickle. Alot of it stems from Leafs fans getting in the heads of Sens fans. Bottom line is we are far from the worst city to have a hockey team in the NHL and every year we gain some more loyal fans. Every fan board I read has this underlying theme from time to time. Now, havving said that it certainly felt lopsided (though I dont have the numbers in front of me). I actually chimed in on this on an Islanders board (gently) just before they banned me because they figured out I wasnt an Isle's fan.

If the Sabres win Saturday I bet we hear a lot of comments like this from the Sens dressing room. They will continue to think they are untouchable until someone takes them down. One more loss and they will start to look at each other like they're waiting for the other guy to step up and take control.

But seriously, what really makes me laugh about this thread is that rival teams always have a team of a-holes don't they? I mean you can't really control what player is going to play for you can you? But yet, Neiler is a diver, Corvo is a jerk off, Alfie is a fag, Heatley is a murderer, Spezza is an idiot and I am sure the list goes on right? But wow, all of Buffalo's players are upstanding citizens, how did you guys get so lucky? What are the chances? Amazing really.

Last night is the first game I've complained about the officiating. I thought it was absolutely terrible for both sides, but I saw more calls missed that should have gone to Buffalo. And the Senators basically had two four-minute power plays, which was ridiculous.

Most notably the call against Joe Corvo where he had to restrain himself form smashing his stick on the boards, that was a joke...and a gift.
But back to Corvo, His interview after the OT win was refreshing. It wasn't the cut and dry typical hockey interview. You could see he looked like a kid he was so excited when asked if it was the biggest goal of his career.

How can you blame the refs when they gave us a PP with 2:30 left...?
But really, the Sabres did look like they were trying to give it away after going up 3-0. They sat back... Again... They can't do that Saturday. Or Monday. Or Wednesday.

Nobody "gave" anyone a high-sticking penalty. It was an easy call.
The main thing I'm outraged over is the phantom "cross check" on Brian Campbell. Daniel "I am a horrible captain" Alfredsson skated up to Campbell (who was protecting his net), crashed into him, then Campbell knocked him off and Alfredsson flung himself to the ground and generated a cheap two-minute minor. That call was garbage, just like Alfredsson.

And it doesn't change the fact that you can't blame the refs for us almost losing the game. Our penalty kill is pretty sick right now. We sat back on even strength and it almost cost us the game. Bottom line. The blame lies squarely on the players.

Eh, I still call him Ball chink off. That says enough right there. I still find it funny that Ottawa has so many players with an S to pronounce somewhere in their names. Wouldn't they just start trading for players with names the coach could pronounce without sounding like a fool?

Especially fetching is the look Murray displays when he is nervous or justht plain furioth with that hideousth Ruff perthon. He deftly and nimbly positions his left hand in his right armpit, and then his right hand in his left armpit. He then sticks the tip of his tongue between his teeth and purses his lips. Muy macho!! Very San Francisco! No wonder the man seems to get so excited every game night when the Public Address system inevitably blares that anthem of all anthems; YMCA! :gay:
