That penalty he took at the end doomed the Senators.
It's not too surprising though, killing is what Heatley does best.

This post has no class! He was not drunk, speed and not wearing a seat belt was the cause of Dan Snyder’s Death. Tell me honestly any of you have been in a situation and said to your self "what the **** was I thinking?" Mario Williams did the same thing last month here in Raleigh, 120 mph in his Lamborghini, stupid, stupid decision. Just think back to when you were 22 years old, and be honest, what if you had the means to a Ferrari or Lamborghini? Can anyone tell me, that not once, would they of had the balls to open that thing up on the road, especially with peer pressure? I just hope you never do anything negligent while driving, speeding, talking on the phone, eating a burger, fooling with you IPOD, etc. that cause the death of another innocent human being.

Tell me why he was charged AND CONVICTED OF Vehicular Homicide and not manslaughter then?
Because vehicular homicide is often a lesser charge than vehicular manslaughter...
He was convicted of Second Degree Vehicular Homicide. It is a misdemeanor. Defined as homicide by vehicle due to negligence or violation of the laws governing motor vehicles.
First degree on the other hand is worse and is a felony. And if it were MURDER by judgment of the courts, which legally requires INTENT, he would have been charged with murder.
Please at least read up on legal terms next time?

I think we can all agree on one thing: Dany Heatley, Ted Kennedy and Craig MacTavish probably shouldn't be operating a motor vehicle at any point.

i love how people continually say he was drunk, he wasn't drunk.
I gurantee tubist has done some silly things in his life, when he was younger i am sure he drove too fast, probably experimented with drugs, i know i did.
Luckily for me i never hurt my best friends when i was doing it, if i had i would have to deal with it for the rest of my life. Dan snyder's parents support Dany and share his pain, that's enough for me.
He does much more good giving the 300 speeches to kids that he is required to do over jail time. What good would come from Heatley sitting in a jail cell? This way he can atleast make help some kids make the right decisions as they get older.

Yes he was drunk.
Not drunk = 0.0 blood alcohol level.
Heatley had more than that, even if it did not reach an arbitrary legal limit.

you have never had a one beer and driven a car? if so you are a saint or a liar.I agree, actually 0.01 is a half a beer. That's why most states have levels of impairment. One beer, a 4 oz. glass of wine, or 1 oz. of booze put .02 in your blood. Your body gets rid of .02 every hour.

Did that look like an intentional high stick ? I'm not so sure.
I'm not saying it wasn't a penalty, it's just one of those ones that was inadvertent coming at a baaaaad time in the game. The Sabres got dinged for one or two of those last night, so they had to call it fairly.
Having said that, do you remember back in the day, say 3 years ago, when hockey used to be a men's game ? The refs put the whistle in their pockets for the third period of playoff games ?

You gotta be more careful... it wasn't intentional IMO... but it also wasn't necessary... it was on a breakout by the Sabres...no danger of scoring at that point.... and with 2:30 left it did effectively kill thier chances....
Heatley hasn't lit the lamp yet....he's got a ways to go to score the 4 you predicted..... we held the big line off the score sheet last night...
bduff54

yeah, he won't be getting the 4 goals i predicted but he is leading the playoffs in points, he is a fantastic player no doubt about it. I've been to a few Senators games this year and while I live in Leafs country (so don't get the Senators on Saturday night HNIC feed on a regular basis) I've noticed that he's really picked up the defensive side of his game in the dozen or so Sens games I've watched this year.
Last year, he was balls-out offense and zero defense i.e. Brett Hullish, but it's really noticeable this year how he's become more of an all-around player, while still being able to put the puck in the net.

i like a little bit of stuff to be let go in the third or OT, especially roughing calls and stuff but the hooks and interference need to be called. i am all good with crosschecks and battles in front of the net, i miss that stuff. you used to be able to just abuse a guy in front of the net and it was his job to stand there and take it, just ask holmstrom how much it has changed from a few years ago, he used to get destroyed in the crease but would always just take it and hold his position, now that stuff is not allowed, i don't like that.

You would have been disgusted with one cross-checking call that Brian Campbell received in the 3rd period, then.
Let me ask you, bduff, does it sound right that somebody gets a cross-checking call for hitting a man from the front while trying to protect his goaltender?

The Campbell penalty almost sent me through the roof. Alfredsson skates toward Soup, initiates contact, then takes a dive. It was a pathetic display by the Senators' equally pathetic loser of a captain. To steal a word from Ron Wilson's vocabulary, I've seen Alfredsson do two "chickenshit" things in this series -- first, the hit on Tallinder, and last night's dive.

Celebrities get vilified when something bad happens to them. Why? Because they're celebrities and the media runs with the story.
I know alot about the Kobe case because I live very close to where it happened. The hotel where the incident happened is one of my customers and I am personal friends with a few guys in the Eagle County Sheriff's Department who conducted the investigation. Kobe didn't rape that girl. She came to his room for the specific purpose of ****ing a sports celebrity. She bragged about it to her friends at a party afterwards. I guess when she discovered that she had some anal bleeding after she let him **** her in the ass, she decided that she could make some bank and filed charges.
The only thing Kobe did wrong was cheat on his wife and make himself a target.

The prosecutors got something out of it, knowing that people like those on this board would just say "boys will be boys" and a murderer would go free.
And surely discussing the matter on an internet message board will not change the past. The incident, or the ruling.
This is the ****ing playoffs. Let's enjoy them while they last.

Heatley actually pled down to the 2nd degree charge from a more severe charge.
I'm sure the prosecutors realized the difficulty in prosecuting a sports hero. Look at the number of people here that aren't even Thrashers/Sens fans defending the guy for killing an innocent human being. The prosecutors got something out of it, knowing that people like those on this board would just say "boys will be boys" and a murderer would go free.
Wow. You are a grade A moron. Defending the guy for his actions? Not so.
Just pointing out how ridiculously wrong you are in calling it murder. You can close your eyes, plug your ears and shout "IT WAS MURDER!!" over and over again, but it doesn't change the fact that you have your head up your ass and are in fact wrong.

The dead guy whose parent's forgave Heatley?
Hey Like it or not Heatley KILLED someone and the law says it wasn't an 'ACCIDENT' he is responsible because he was careless and negligent according to the law AGAIN, it doesn't matter what Snyder's folks said or even what the prosecutors ended up settling for...Dany Heatley will always have blood on his hands...
Also I'd consider what the Grand Jury decided before quoting Snyder's Folks or the eventual deal worked out between the lawyers;
"UPDATE July 2004: Dany Heatley has been indicted by a Fulton County grand jury on first-degree vehicular homicide charges, for the car wreck that killed his friend and teammate, Dan Snyder, in October 2003. The charges carry a 3-15 year prison sentence."

OJ had good lawyers too…so I guess you’d defend him, right buddy???
