"Ottawa's objective will be to score first and take it from there. The Senators are 6-0 after getting the opening goal this spring."

Bolded, underlined, highlighted and tattoed on your eyelids. First goal is going to be huge!

And we have won 4 playoff games when either the Isles or Rangers have scored first. Thing is the Sabres won't panic if they fall behind unlike the Pens and Devils did.

sens are 6-0 scoring first. 2-2 being scored on first. It doesn't mean the game is over if they score first, but it's big.

Some of my favorite lines...

"Even if they're screaming obscenities at you, it kind of gets you motivated and pumped up."

Emery had the latest word yesterday when asked if he'd have anything to say to Ruff if he saw him on the road: Emery said he'd greet him with a little "nudge." (I guess Emery likes to joke about causing car accidents. Perhaps he should watch what he says seeing as one of his teammates... etc etc)

I don't take any stake in who scores first.

Sure, I'd like Buffalo to always score first...and second, and third, and so on.

But, I think that this apparent 'feeding off the hostile crowd' thing is ridiculous.

Not only is this not Long Island, where you can expect to be rained upon by plastic Bud Light bottles, but the most these guys are going to hear is some boos when key guys pick up the puck.

Whatever...at this point (playing a team that actually puts up adversity) Ottawa is struggling to find any good reason to show up against Buffalo. God knows that there's a little bit of fear growing in the back of their minds that is telling them:

"Lose both in Buffalo and your own fans will turn on you."

"This team has picked you apart when you had higher calibre players, what's going to stop them now?"

"Get behind and you're done for."

They like to talk the talk, but if Buffalo truly shows up (and plays run and gun with Ottawa) we'll take them by 1-2 goals.

But if their fans are booing them, won't they be more motivated to play? :wink4:

The Senators goaltender can expect some special attention from the Sabres' faithful after he fanned the flames of an already heated rivalry earlier this week with some wisecracks about how he would have preferred to have been headed for Manhattan to play the New York Rangers rather than the more subdued environs of Buffalo.

Those comments made the rounds in Buffalo and Sabres coach Lindy Ruff shot back that Emery could rent a car and go driving in his downtime, in reference to the traffic accident the Senators netminder got in that caused him to miss the team's charter to New Jersey last week.

Love Lindy lol

I like the developing trend of the Sabres opposition talking shit before any pucks of been dropped. It's the first sign of weakness and it always comes from the other side.

What was Kotaliks quote?

pigpen65
May 10th, 2007, 3:03:23 PM
I think it was from Monday....

“I think we can take advantage of him,” said Ales Kotalik. “I think Ryan is a better goalie than him. We’ve been facing better goalies than he is. We will see. He’s got a big, big body. But we know he can give up some pretty easy goals. So hopefully, he didn’t forget last year’s playoffs and he’s going to give up some this year, too.”

I dont' think this series will live up to the hype. I think buffalo is a superior team to ottawa in just about every single category. The question is whether they can give games 5 and 6 effort for 4 games in a row, if so, get your broom out.

I am not worried about these guys in the least.

disagree completely, they are way better than both the rags and the isles. They were ridiculous in their last 40 games and have been awesoem in the playoffs too, disposing of two decent teams very quickly.

This series will be a war, The sens are going to win one of these first 2 games and the sabres will have to go into ottawa and prove they can dominate there, we all know they can.

sorry they are not WAY better than the rags, the isles maybe

but again remind me who has the worst goaltending left in the playoffs

and not to disregard the two teams they played but they beat a bunch of kids, and lets just be totally honest about pitt, they will be very good int he future, but tyhey have 3 excellent players and the talent level drops off significantly after malkin. I dont' think pitt could have beaten any of the other 7 teams in the playoffs. and new jersey? come on. They looked great against teh second lowest scoring team in the conference, and brodeur wasn't his excellent regular season self.

as southside has said before and I agree, the sens lack heart. this won't be a war if the sabres play at full speed for 240 minutes.

ruff>murray sabres forwards > sens sabres d>sens miller>emery

as to your point about teh last 40, how'd carolina end their season last year?

regular season is meaningless when you are at this point in the playoffs

emery<dipi<lundy

this series is going to be an offensive cake walk compared to last series.

I dont' see the sens winning either game here in buffalo, they will take game and lose 4 and 5

like I've said numnerous times its all about effort, if the sabres play as hard as possible this is a short series

I just feel so good about Buffalo against anyone now, yeah even Ottawa.I know this team can beat anyone now and I never felt so good about a Buffalo team in any playoffs. Its not being cocky its just that they are good and the more that is at stake the better I see this team doing.Give them something to play for and they will rise to the occasion,it really gives you some confidence. Its good to be a Sabres fan.

Ottawa beats the Sabres in # of douchebags on the team, because Chris Neal automatically trumps anyone.
