View Full Version : A 2nd RB? OK...

I was very surprised that the Bills took another RB in Dwayne Wright in the 4th.

I don't have any issue at all with the player, indeed, he looks like a bull tough inside RB. ESPN gushed all over
themselves again about this guy (of course, Mort couldn't
resist pointing out for the 9,999,9999,999th time that they didn't keep guys like Clements, Fletcher, Spikes and McGahee...).

I was surprised as I thought surely they'd look at someone on D. I know that there are not many highly regarded defenders left and that a LB, DT and CB all went just ahead of them in the 4th, but it seems that they must be at least OK with their LB depth and CB situation. If not, I'd find it hard to believe that they could have drafted a backup QB and backup RB in the 3rd and 4th rounds.

Comments?

Well....A-train might now be the answer, They have options....Also think that Wright could be a full back!!!

Lynch and Wright on the field at the same time? That's gonna be sweet.

As they say, you have to run and stop the run.

Unfortunately, the Bills couldn't do either one last year and I think that the Bills recognized that it would be all but impossible to fix both areas in one offseason. So, instead of trying to take half-measures at both and ending up mediocre in both areas again in '07, the Bills decided to concentrate on the one they could fix the easiest and the quickest, that being their offensive running game. They still need a little OL help, but for the most part, they're set, and should have a top 10 running game for the forseeable future.

Meanwhile, they still found a place to add an excellent LB prospect in Posluszny and will also have Youboty and McCargo essentially as draft picks this year as well.

I wouldn't say that they've completely sacrificed the D. They did draft Posluszny who should help stem the bleeding.

They also got DT Darwin Walker in the Spikes deal to help the pass rush.

Further, they have McCargo and Youboty from last year to hopefully contribute significantly.

I have no problem with the picks of Edwards and Wright, if those were the guys they had at the top of their value board, then great. I'd rather they take who they think are the best players than really stretch to take guys at other positions.

I also understand how the offensive run game can help the defense against the run by controlling the clock.

Walker is a DE but may play once in a while at DT. (3rd and 23). Its okay to fix one area at a time, but please don't let some areas got to hell in a handbasket.

You could be right, but I've always seen him listed at DT. Granted, he isn't the classic run-stuffer, but he has been reported to be one of the best pass-rushing DTs.

RBs, TEs, and LBs are the keys to special teams and make good late picks.

I don't know where you get your info. Darwin Walker is a DT.

As for Dwayne Wright, the man will probably be used in our offense like Brandon Jacobs is for the Giants. And I love that.

If it gets Shaud Williams off the Buffalo roster I'm a happy man.
