This guy takes a shot at schopp and the bulldog, he is so right.

Those idiots were already looking past the islanders and even analyzing who they would like to play from the west.

Maybe this loss will people back to earth a bit, this team should still make the finals but there will be somes tests along the way.

Anyone who takes those GR idiots seriously has no cred in my book. Too bad Buffalo is a one paper, no station town. Pretty sad that you have to listen to 103.3 for decent Sabres stuff.

it's not a bad thing, everybody was just excited.

i just can't believe how some people have turned on them after losing one close game the other night. they still played pretty well.

I think that everyone knows that the Isles are a less talented team and the Sabres are 'supposed' to win, yet didn't seem to show up to play.

That's the truth and, if it is being interpretted by fans pointing that out, as they have 'turned on the team,' someone is definitely sorely mistaken. The support for this team is just as strong as ever. However, being at the top of the division and losing a game, everyone now starts looking for cracks in the foundation. You won't find it -- criticism is not abandonment, nor is it a lack of support. Buffalo fans are damned if we do and damned if we don't. If we blindly support the team w/o criticism after a bad game, we are cocky and delusional. If we criticize poor play, we are "scalded cats turning on their team."

Sounds to me like the one's that are overreacting based on emotion is the Canadian media. Need I remind them that it takes FOUR wins to take a series? For god's sake -- the Isles aren't even up on us. I think our neighbors to the North are trying to make something out of nothing to sell their papers. Nothing takes away the sting of a Leafs exit than making fun of the Sabres and their fans. Leafs fans must have been giddy reading that. lol

there is nothing wrong with doing that. There is no right way to be a fan. If I want to talk about the Sabres winning the Stanley Cup every year for the next ten years I can do that. If I want to think the sky is falling and the Sabres are falling apart I can do that too.

People need to stop this elitist attitude and always saying "oh its going to be harder than you think" or "dont get too excited" or "dont get ahead of yourself." We know that, but we can be fans however we damn well please. The exilerating feeling of thinking about us winning the Stanley Cup is FUN. I dont mind getting scared that we might blow the series either. It makes the games more intense. It really is unbelievable self-righteousnous to criticize how someone acts as a fan.

Oh and by the way I guaruntee the Bills win the Superbowl next year so there. :bills:

to be completely honest, people here don't really focus on the sabres too much. They focus on the sens and habs, those are the teams they want to see fail. people actually like the sabres here. The Toronto media is not overly focused on the sabres, do you have evidence to support that claim? they comment on every series in the papers. And you won't sell more papers in T.O. by ripping on the sabres, people really like them.

Hey, thanks Maz! It's getting so tiresome reading some of this crap that people who claim to be professional sports reporters write about the fans, the City and the Team and not have a clue what they are talking about.

As stated in this thread -- there's no right or wrong way to be a fan. I think that people either love or hate the Sabres and I'm ok with any of it. People from outside this region don't need to get it and I don't care if they do. We, as Buffalonians who are big Sabres fans (and particularly those who have been big fans prior to their recent successes) get it. We don't need anyone's confirmations or approvals on our behavior. We do what feels right to support our team. What a high it is! :D

What I don't get is those who are from Buffalo but living elsewhere being so negative toward their fellow fans. Again, get over it and start enjoying this ride! Woo hoo -- GO SABRES! :bigasskiss:

My sister lives and works in Toronto and she takes a lot of crap from Leafs fans -- her fiancee included. Drives me nuts. No offense, Bduff because I think you are a bit different than some of the traditional Leafs fans. To say that Leafs fans wouldn't enjoy reading about a Buffalo meltdown is suspect. I'm stating my own opinion based on what I have read and numerous Leaf fans I have talked to. There are times where I think "wow, that was incredibly fair and not biased in any way" with the media, but they take their shots when they can, like in the article you posted about Sabres fans today.

Guaruntee?

I have to agree on your comment on how people criticize other fans. I was sitting on the Metro after game one and some lame ass kid who probably doesn't know the French Connection, or even the 99 Cup team for that matter, is screaming and harrassing people because we aren't yelling 'Sabres in 4' and acting like idiots. I am always cautious when it comes to series. I see no need to act like we won it all when we have won 1 of 16...Especially if you look at last year's first round teams in the West. Sometimes the lower seed has the "drive" and runs with it. You have to admit we had a pretty enjoyable and easy season with domination. I just think they didn't come to play. Do you think Lindy is going to let them get away with that again? I sure hope not.

I know the Sabres are the better team. The media knows. Most fans in the NHL know. The Islanders know. Do the Sabres know?

yeah but you can't just generalize and say that is all toronto media. TSN is based out of toronto and they praise the sabres on an hourly basis.

I don't know, most of my friends are leaf fans and they really don't care about buffalo. They respect how good they are and are not really interested if they win or lose. they cheer against ottawa and montreal.

That's cool, Bduff. Maybe they let their real feelings out amongst themselves. When they know you're a Sabres fan, it's a far different experience for me.

I have read enough articles (and no, I'm not going to go looking to prove it) that take their shots at the Sabres and that's their right. I don't like it, but at the end of the day I understand and I don't really care after the initial reaction. I don't dwell on it. I figure, like Philly fans, nothing I say will change their mind, so why let it get me riled up?

If they could care less about us as you say, that's even better.

I also looked past the Islanders pre-series, and I certainly learned my lesson now. In the playoffs every team has to be taken seriously, and now I will always know that. Islanders, you officially have my attention and respect.

Awesome, Awesome , Awesome....

I wrote in a few threads a few things that concerned me, and concerned others on this board . A few of the "regulars" called us pathetic. I am as loyal to the Sabres as they come. Just because I question the way they are playing doesent me I am "jumping of the bandwagon". I question the way they are playing because I want to see them excel. I dont even live in the area anymore, and cannot fathom rooting for anyone but the Sabres.
