Principal Shown Having Sex With Teacher On Video
DVD Distributed To Parents; Principal Resigns
(CBS) LYNWOOD, Ill. A south suburban elementary school has been rocked by scandal after an X-rated DVD showing the principal and a teacher was leaked to parents.
As CBS 2's Mai Martinez reports, the video reportedly shows the principal, Leroy Coleman, in his office having sex with a science teacher, Janet Lofton, at Sandridge Elementary School, 2950 Glenwood-Dyer Rd. in Lynwood.
The DVD goes on for two hours. Another woman, also a teacher appears on the video as well.
The tape has left the school district administration many parents deeply concerned. Some parents reported that copies of the tape have been circulating for the past couple of days.
John Izzo, an attorney for the school district, said the district is investigating but has not yet viewed the tape.
The district superintendent reportedly contacted the two faculty members identified to her by others as having been on the tape. Both resigned, as did Coleman.
Izzo says the school board views the alleged misconduct as disgusting and inappropriate.
Parents of Sandridge School students agree. They say some students were aware of the alleged misconduct long before parents found out about it. They also say they think more should have been done to protect the students.
"These kids need to not know about this stuff. They're too young," said parent Lisa Claves. "You've even got kindergartners wondering what sexual things are, and it's not right."
"They should have handled the situation better than what they're doing. It's like they're more laid back about it," said parent Kareem Moseley, "and not only that – kids don't need to see nothing like that. It should have been more better handled than that."
Izzo said Cook County sheriff's police are investigating the case, including how someone got access to a school office and planted a recording device. The school board is interested in having them prosecuted.
Meanwhile, parents are planning to protest Monday morning, when pupils return to school from spring break.
