To me that is the whole series, if he plays the isles have a tiny chance. if he can't, this is over in 4.

Is dubie still alive he was great as a wideout for us.
Dubie to a Buffalo fan can only be one person.

I really don't think it matters. The Sabres win in, at the most, five games.

Dubie will shut the Sabres out 3 games, so we better hope Rick Dipidummy plays. J/K

When DiPietro makes a good save the Isles fans in the building cheer:
DP!!! DP!!!
Now I know this means various things to various people but...man...is that the best they could come up with?

considering he's signed for like 39 more years...burning him out after a serious injury probably isn't advisable.
Although as a Polish-American from Buffalo, I'm glad a good 'ol Polish boy was able to salvage the Isles hopes and lead them into the 8th seed.

The first time I saw the Dub-MAster I thought of all of those carnival rides that had a yard stick next to them that said:
"You must be this high to ride this ride".
Good for Dubie--hes an underdog and Buffalo loves underdog's--thatis, unless they're playing our "underdogs" in the playofs. Without DiPietro and his lifetime guarantee the Isles will have a tough time getting past us.
I'm thinking, 4 or 5 games. And only 5 games if we really get tired stomping them in the first 3 or 4.

New York Islander goalie Rick DiPietro, who has not played or practiced with the team since March 25 because of a concussion, will see a New York neurologist today.
While DiPietro has reportedly been feeling better of late, he has not been exerting himself.
The Islanders should have a better idea after today's medical appointment whether the goaltender has any chance at being made available to them for the first round of the playoffs, which for them opens Thursday in Buffalo.
DiPietro suffered the initial injury in a collision with Steve Begin of the Montreal Canadiens on March 13. He missed the next two games and the Islanders lost both, giving up 13 goals in the process.
He returned to action on March 20 and played in four games, posting two wins and two overtime losses before being shut down again.
DiPietro has a 32-19-9 record to go along with five shutouts and a 2.58 goals against average in 62 games with the Islanders this season.
The Islanders made headlines in the off-season when they re-signed DiPietro to a 15-year contract worth $67.5 million. He missed three games this season with groin injury and another with a lower-body injury before suffering the concussion.

I don't. A too-easy 1st round/long layoff can backfire. See last years New Jersey Devils.
I think the Isles will win at least one game, even without DiPietro. I doubt we'll see him in net. Post-concussion syndrome isn't the sort of thing you can play through.

I fully expect to see Dipietro, especially if its 2-0 Buffalo heading to NY. If the series is close, i doubt we see him.

I'll be happy if the Isles just show up. Play tough and have something to build on for next year.

New York Islanders goaltender Wade Dubielewicz, Colorado Avalanche centre Joe Sakic and Minnesota Wild goaltender Niklas Backstrom have been named the NHL's three stars for final week of the regular season.
Dubielewicz, who was summoned from the minors after Rick DiPietro suffered a concussion, helped the Islanders to four consecutive victories and the eighth and final playoff berth in the Eastern Conference.
He made 36 saves through overtime and three in the shootout as the Islanders defeated the New York Rangers 3-2 last Tuesday, he made 28 saves in a 5-2 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday, he stopped 28 shots in a 4-2 win over the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday, and he blocked 22 shots and then two of three in the shootout as the Islanders clinched a playoff position with a 3-2 win over the New Jersey Devils on Sunday afternoon.

He's had a pretty good start. He's only played in 8 games. starting five of those.4-1, .934 sv%, 2.06 GAA.
So anyone seen him in more than one game, if so does he look really good making tough stops?
He is definitely an unknown factor.
