THE FORECAST CALL FOR CHANGE
Sunday @ 6:06 PM ET | Comments (307) (http://www.hockeybuzz.com/boards/thread.php?thread_id=16404&forum_id=1)
There are seven regular season games to play, and, Lindy Ruff will be making long anticipated lineup changes this week.
The first of the injured players will return to the lineup, which means that the I-90 Shuffle will begin again.
This also greenlights a Dman changing his stripes to play the wing, and a tough guy taking a break.
Sounds like the Seacrest Tease on American Idol, eh?
First things first.
Michael Ryan has been a useful substitute role player since his emergency recall in February. Riding shotgun for Dainus Zubrus and Chris Drury has yielded multiple scoring chances for Ryan. However, Ryan cannot find the back of the net. Its not for a lack of trying. Ryan has been adequate PKer in the time that he's been on the big club.
Sanjaya and Mike, please join us at centre stage.
America has voted, Mike Ryan, and.... you will not be returning this week.
Cue the cheesy Chris Daughtry tune here: "...its not over........"
Yes it is.
Ryan will be sent back to Rochester, early this week, in order to make room for Dan Paille's return to the Sabres lineup.
Sanjaya stays.
Ryan goes.
!@#$%^&*, Sanjaya !
I know its not fair.
Dan Paille will make his return to the Buffalo lineup against New Jersey, at home on Wednesday night.
Paille will likely join Zubie and Dru.
He will also take RYAn's place on the Sabres PK unit.
Rear guard Toni Lydman will also return to the lineup against New Jersey. His upper body injury has heald, and, he will re-take his rightful place next to Hank Tallinder on Wednesday night.
Nathan Paetsch will liekly move from D to left wing.
The fourth line will consist of Paetsch-Macarthur-Mair.
Andrew Peters will be the odd man out.
Recap:
Lydman in.
Paetsch up to the wall.
Paille in.
Ryan down to the farm.
Petey to the pressbox.
And, now... the moment you've all been waiting for:
Will Tim Connolly return this week ?
Connolly skated in Toronto Saturday morning.
I've been told that Connolly skateed well, on his own, and his post-skate work out yielded no discouraging news ie: mediacl set-backs related to his stress fractured leg.
If all systems are a go, and it appears that way, Connolly will hit the practice ice with his mates Monday morning at HSBC Arena. Connolly will resume non-contact drill, the likes of which Al Kotalik and Dan Paille have participated the past couple of weeks.
The goal is to get Connoly re-acclimated to realtime scenarios on the ice, and to work on his conditioning. He was close to his peak conditioning when he was forced to the couch with the stress fracture.
Connolly will likely work with James Patrick after practice, Monday and Tuesday, on his cardio conditioning. Bag skates are always fun !
Connolly will be eased into a role on the Sabres Power Play and Penalty Kill. Don't look for #19 to resume 5 on 5 play all at once.
To make room for Connolly, the Sabres can option Clarke MacArthur back to Rochester.
My best guess is that you'll see Connolly on the ice again on Saturday in Montreal or Monday night in Pittsburgh.
This week will be a big week for the Buffalo Sabres.
Don't blink, you may miss a lineup change.
Caught ya blinking !!!!
*******
Congrats to Cal, Jack, TJ, Brendan and rest of The Goodfellas.
Nice Super Sunday win !!
