hey guys,
now that the season is almost done who would you say were some really bad signing thats haven't worked out so far?
Here are some of mine. Just our division first.
1. Samsonov-brutal
2. Kubina- Not sure if he will ever be worth 5 million a year
3. Spacek -a bit overpaid i would say for what he has done.

mccabe i can live with, gill is bad, kubina is overpaid and can't get a shot on the PP to earn his cash.
Chara is a still a monster, his team just sucks.
spacek?

Spacek has been injured most of the season and his true value will become clear in the playoffs. He was better than Pronger last offseason. He also is +17 and has 20 points in 58 games, which is more than solid for a D-man.

cool, one thing. He was nowhere near as good as pronger, i watched every game of their playoffs and that man was a monster. Spacek was good but Pronger was carrying that team.

McCabe was most definitely the worst. I can't believe how much money they gave him. what a joke.

yeah overpaid for sure. samsonov is worse in my opinion though. 3.5 million for a guy that gets scratched twice a week? Mccabe still plays at a decent level and gives 100%

Some examples of McCabe giving 100%

Samsanov-done nothing
Cullen-thought he would fit well, also did nothing
Mckee-hurt too much
Kubina-not worth 5 mil
Modin-done nothing
Not a signing, but the Luongo for Bertuzzi and Auld, one of the worst trades ever, imo.

I know he wasn't a FA but Gomez with his 11 goals was a bad re-sign by NJ

funny how almost every one of these guys was brought up as someone the Sabres should have gone after in the offseason... once again, Darcy's looking pretty smart...

come on tubist, thats not fair man. the guy works hard and does his best out there, its not his fault the leafs overpaid him. He is above average out there, if he was a sabre i know you would like him.

How many even strength goals does Marcy have? An above average player can do more than sit at the side of the net on the power play.

who are you talking about, we are talking about mccabe.
you don' think tucker can play? he has been hurt for a lot of the year and has 25 goals, he is also the leader of the team emotionally. gimme a break man.

he has ten even strength goals, he plays with chad kilger and matt stajan half the time. come on guys, you know his role even strength is not all about scoring. he is a good PP player with soft hands and a good shot, nobody is saying he is kovalchuk.

why do you some of you feel you have to try and prove that the guy sucks for some reason, he is a decent hockey player with an edge that is valuable in this leage. he gives 100% all the time and can put the puck in the net 15-30 times a year on a consistent basis, he is not a superstar he is just an old school player that is a decent asset.
Can't anyone just be reasonable about it?

How bout useless goalies? Graham in Ottawa and that guy in Colorado. Eating up all that cap space and riding the pine. I wish I had that job.

Samsanov ranks right down there. How can you rag on your teammates like that? It's one thing to be a bad FA pick up; it's another to turn into a cancer.
Pax.

yeah, i think samsonov is easily the worst. he dosen't even play and he makes 3.5 million. how can you really argue against that

Even though it was last year, I laugh that the Devils are paying Mogilny $3 million to sit in Russia (too bad its off the cap)
Gerber is the worst goalie pickup this past offseason, I would say that Freddy Norrena was the best value in goalies. Holmqvist has also been good in spurts.

I assume you must mean in Marco Polo at the pool because you surely can't mean hockey.
No offense but that is the most insane thing I have ever heard. Bring up any stats you want, but that is completely insane.

Yeah, it's funny that every Sabre could have told you he wasn't worth that money.
I'd still rather have him for the playoffs than some on the guys we got right now.
