View Full Version : BBI DRAFT PARTY Info and Headcount:
March 9th, 2002, 1:59:51 PM
Well, it's time! BBI is hosting it's very first annual NFL Draft Party on the 20th of April this year. The event will be held in conjunction with Woody's II on W. Henrietta Rd. in Rochester, NY and will be co-sponsored by 96.5 WCMF, Rochester's Classic Rock Station.
Woody's II will open a half an hour early that day at 11 a.m. to accommodate a Noon start for the draft. Plans for the day are in the works. There will be food and drink specials and prize giveaways all day long from BBI, WCMF, Woody's, and beer sponsors as well. Wy's Wings Inc. national award-winning wing sauces will also be donating prizes and wing sauce at the restaurant for the event.
We are planning on holding a raffle for some of the better prizes. The proceeds from the raffle will more than likely go to benefit one of the local Rochester childrens' organizations.
Attempts are also being made to bring in some ex-players or other members from the Bills' organization. Also in attendance will be members of the Rochester area sports media.
This first-time event promises to be huge and set the tone for annual repeats in what should easily become Rochester's largest NFL Draft event. We look forward to seeing you there.
If anyone has info or can assist w/ anything mentioned please let myself or one of the other admin/mods know please!
We'd love to use your ideas. We hope that many of you can make it.
If anyone has any logistical questions, please direct them to me at wyswings@mindspring.com. I can assist w/ hotels, directions and other logistical info. We'll have some maps up later, and depending upon the response for hotels, we may see if we can get a group rate somewhere. Woody's II is only minutes from the airport as well and easy as pie to find.
More info will be posted as it becomes available.
Let's have a huge BBI presence and make this event a huge success!
GO BILLS!!!

It's a really nice sports bar/restaurant in Rochester. IMO the nicest by far.
It's plenty big for all of us. Since it's a combined BBI, Woody's, and WCMF thing, I don't know how many will be there. But I would suspect, based on feedback we've received so far, that there'll be at least 50 BBIers there. That includes friends of BBIers as people who don't necessarily post on this site. But again, we only polled people informally and haven't asked for RSVPs.
We'll do that. As a matter of fact I'll go ahead and post a thread right after this asking to get an idea.
It's decent sized! It used to be a Ponderosa. There's 3 rooms, the main bar, and two side rooms. We'll have the largest side room initially and we can spill over into the bar as we need. WCMF will have the PA system set up. We'll have the raffle and door prizes. It's gonna be a blast.
Everyone who can should definitely try to make it!! I have a hunch this is gonna be big for BBI. Plus, the real fun is gettin' together w/ people from BBI to put faces to the names.
It's a lot more fun posting when you know who you're posting to. It takes the edge off. There're a couple of guys that I've met at the BBI TG parties that post frequently and it's just more fun having met.

As a student at RIT, I've been to Woody's II several times. I'm gonna have to disagree with wyswings that it's the nicest in Rochester, but that's not to take anything away from it. It's just like any other sports bar would be...much like a Tully's or something similar with TV's placed all over the walls and a large projection TV over the bar.
Like was mentioned earlier, it's plenty big enough especially for the turn out that was mentioned. Overall, it's a very good bar and probably one of the best places to host the draft party. It should be a blast.
Usually on draft day I sit by myself with all of my draft info in front of me and take dirty looks from my friends that ask what the hell I'm doing, but maybe this year I'll head to the draft party. It would be cool to watch it with other fans and not obnoxious Patriots fans like my current roommate.

He's gonna be our BBI rep there. He'll have 20 cell phones w/ him and each mod gets a personal line in. Isn't that right NYC?

Actually, if you're just going by the set-up alone, Woody's II is one of the nicest bar in Rochester. It is much more of a sausage-fest than the original Woody's in the city, but if you're going there at noon on a Saturday, that's a moot point anyway.
Count me in for now - may bring somebody.
Oh, and I don't mean to sound like George Castanza or anything, but is there gonna be a cover charge?

I am 75% sure I will be attending. I just lost my job from a large telecom company in Rochester and the Mrs. and I are looking at moving the family to North Carolina. As long as I am in town I am planning on going.

Yeah, well, I would love to swing over to Woody's II, drink some brews, and confirm how ugly you all are in person...
BUT MSG is only six subway stops away and Woody's II is six HOURS away, so my choice has been made for me. :spiderman
I'll be an official BBI Delegate, though, and give a bottle of Wy's Wing Sauce to our first rounder - so send me some free sauce and one of those cool BBI t-shirts!

March 12th, 2002, 6:10:01 PM
Well, let's be realistic, I wouldn't sit around and ardently watch it while only running to the kitchen during commercials...
LOL
This party is gonna be a blast! Woody's is gettin' in on the action and WCMF will be promoting it as well I believe. It'll be fun just hangin' eatin' wings and havin' a beer w/ TDRJ!!! :D
We have plans for him! LOL :elaugh:
JK
But if you have a particular team in mind and your team has some good picks, then it's interesting. In the past I simply leave it up online and check in whenever the urge hits me. This party will be cool b/c we're gonna be running some contests, like pick the Bills' first 3 rounds of picks as each round unfolds. We'll have prizes, etc.

hey wys...
how do you make it up for everything living down here in McLean?
I'm practically your neighbor...I live in Reston..
I used to work on Old Meadow Road at Spacenet in McLean...
March 12th, 2002, 11:44:47 PM
I live right at the top of Old Meadow. Wilson Lane.
My truck goes really fast. It only takes me 2 1/2 hours to drive up there... :D
Actually, I go up for business frequently. It saves me some bucks as I can write the trip off and accomplish things while I'm up there. Plus, since I work for myself, I don't have to ask for time off. Hehe...
March 23rd, 2002, 2:46:56 PM
shoot me an e-mail MissB...
It's a piece of cake. If there's anything else you want while you are there, let me know. We'll be there for a few days. You can meet our littl'un if you like. He's cute!
Anyway, would love to catch up w/ you or anyone else prior to the party...
