Came across it on youtube. Wish it was longer but it's still cool.

Awesome. Thanks, pigpen. He's one of the most underrated fighters in NHL histroy.

there's a part of a Kocur fight in there too which was absolutely awesome. Kocur won the fight, but it was a hell of a battle. May always had problems with the big guys. His style was to hit quick, get them off balance, and land a KO shot. Against the big guys with the longer reach, he couldn't really do much. But the guys his size he usually wrecked. He probably won't go down as one of the best, but he's got to be the best at switching hands. Even in this comp, he's throwing left handed more than half the time. I always wanted to see Ray vs May, since they both had incredible punching power and were about the same size.

Couple things regarding this clip...

Gotta love the music, Bad Religion is a sick band to have fight compilation to.
The one punch knock-out vs. Ken Baumgartner the Leaves was sick.
The Brad May we knew as number 10 was the best!

Great clip Pigpen, I always thought of May as a better brawler than Ray though. He'd bomb ya with so many rights you'd beg for a left and then he'd drop ya with one. That left (and the right for that matter) was brutal.

Hahahahaaa...I'm proud to say that I was lucky enough to be at that game. Beezer in net for the Panthers. LaFontaine might have scored a hat trick. Sabres won it 6-3. As the players left the ice, Carkner's blood remained.

I always wanted to see those two go at it as well. I really believe that May would have destroyed Ray though. Totally different fighting styles. Ray used to like to get in tight. He'd start with the jersey grab and keep you close.

Regardless of size, May always loved to keep seperation. He'd strike first and hard and it was always a punch. He almost never grabbed first before throwing a punch if he didn't have too. He knew that he could throw a punch faster and with more velocity than almost anyone. So he kept his distance, hopped on his toes, circled, and waited to unload left or right.

May didn't always have problems with the bigger guys. He got tossed around a few times by guys like Francois Leroux, but he KO'd some bigger bodies as well.

I don't know if you were able to hear it, but after Round 1 where Carkner basically jumped May and it was a wrestling match with the linesmen getting in and escorting the boys to the box, May pointed at Carkner and said in a very loud and very clear voice "I will fscking KILL you!"

At that point, it was a foregone conclusion. Six or so minutes later, Carkner left the trail of shame on the way to the locker room.

I don't remember hearing it back then, but I definitely have seen it on the replay. I used to have that game on VHS...Probably still do in a box somewhere. May always said the most bad ass shit. And he ALWAYS backed it up.

And as I think about it more and more, LaFontaine definitely had a hat trick. One of my more memorable games at the Aud with my Dad. Great memories.
