I happened to stumble across this gem and it was posted on February 5th and ironically mentions Chris Neil as a player who takes advantage of skilled players (notice the caption under the last picture of the article). I think it is time to take a serious look at the instigator penalty, especially if the league doesn't plan on taking care of this shit...

The article also features a quote from Rob Ray...

Excellent article! That is a great find and it's also true. I just can't stand Chris Neil. I would not be upset to see him with blood streaming down his face...that's for damn sure! He's like those hunters that go out to farms and "hunt" captive animals. He is headhunting stars that are skill players who should not be fighting. These valuable players are being taken out by this coward who targets stars (when they aren't looking, no less), not goons. He is a disgrace to the sport and needs to be taught a lesson for his blatant disrespect of his fellow players. The league also needs to step up and take a stand. This stuff is NOT tolerated in the NFL no matter who it is or what hit the other players head. Head injuries are NOT COOL. This is way beyond the physicality of fighting -- this is career-ending stuff. Get rid of the instigator and Neil thinks twice about his hits knowing he's then fair game for everyone on the opposing team. That's how you deal with it.

Ruff's right -- you want to take a cheap shot -- do it against Peters. Don't do it against Drury who is not a fighter, not a cheap-shot artist and certainly who is more respected than Neil EVER will be.

AF is right -- Neil must PAY.

I miss the old school hockey. Players like Neil and Tucker might actually have to improve their skill to even play, because that kind of thuggery was not tolerated.

We all want the instigator gone, however, a couple of things need to happen!
The players and owners need to step up and send a message to the league that they want this rule gone, if they don't the league won't even think about it.
