Mods: If you need to move this to another forum, please do so....

but even so,this is an interesting piece on how we seem to take our cues from television. Fashion,etc....and how torture, which was almost unseen a few years ago, seems to be in vogue now...

yeah, ok, 24 knows more about torture than people who have been trained by the CIA. Whatever.

24 is a vastly misunderstood show that hides behind a supposed right-wing agenda.

I've seen almost every season and it has some of the sharpest and most insightful writing on TV.

It is definitely NOT a RW show. Not remotely.

It just pretends to be so it can get away with what it's REALLY saying about the state of America and Americans.

A&E runs the series every day during the week. You can also rent them in the video store.

The evolution of the show (this is season 6, one season a year) has been fascinating.

IMO, the finest season was the last, with the AMERICAN PRESIDENT and shadowy RIGHT-WING fruitcakes as the villains.

Stunning work.

And the Joel Surnow is a right-wing kook meme is just cover. He's the guy that came up with the gimmick.

The show is infested with lefty Canadians through and through and is a supreme America bashing show.

They are all good. Start with Season 1 and get more if you like them... The reason I suggest this is because they tie in backstory from previous seasons into later seasons.

And now this season we've got the crazy neo-cons that think they need to kill the non-neocon POTUS so they can suspend habeus corpus and set up Muslim Internment Camps all over the US. Anyone who says this show is a Republican wet dream just hasn't been paying attention.

Not only that but Jack Bauer's father along with a crazy Russian general are feeding the crazy Muslim the nukes for their own nefarious purposes.

I love that the crazy Russian admitted last night that this is payback for the Cold War.

I'm just waiting for Jack to find out about some fancy ball that Gradenko will be at and get dressed up in a tux and take him out Bond-style.

The neat thing about 24 is they admit that while ideology motivates some people, money, power and personal animus is a much more powerful force.
