The Redskins Monday announced they have completed the signing of wide receiver Jacques Green.

He becomes the fourth former Florida Gator to join Washington's roster since head coach Steve Spurrier was hired in January. He joins wide receivers Reidel Anthony and Chris Doering, and quarterback Danny Wuerffel as former Gators on the Redskins roster.

Green, 26, spent the first four seasons of his NFL career with Tampa Bay. A second-round pick in 1998, Green has 157 career receptions for 2,217 yards.

In 1999, Green caught 56 passes for 791 yards and three touchdowns. He added 51 catches for 773 yards in 2000. Last season, however, Green caught just 36 balls for 402 yards.

Spurrier coached Green at Florida from 1995 until 1997. Green left Florida after his junior season, finishing fifth on the Gators' all-time list with 2,181 receiving yards on 113 catches, despite starting just 19 games.

In his time at Florida and with Tampa Bay, Green also demonstrated an ability to return punts. With the Gators, he returned four punts for touchdowns. In his pro career, Green has returned 55 punts for an average of 12 yards, though he did not return any kicks last season. He also returned a punt 95 yards for a touchdown in 1998.
