How so? If his (trophy/gold-digging) wife hasn't put-out yet after all the money he's made, she never will.
March 17th, 2002, 2:04:30 PM
right she never will and now he can find someone who will!

Good for Jeff.
I think alot of people didn't like Gordon because of his camera hogging, gold digging, wife.

He was initially signed by the Green Bay Packers as an undrafted free agent TE in 1999; was cut and has spent the last two years on the practice squad at NFLE Barcelona.
We're looking at him to play LOT.

I don't think we need another TE. We have enough.

I have done the Richard Petty School of Racing at Charlotte Motor Speed way (16 laps around the track 8 with a coaching driver 8 with out).
It is a lot harder than it looks and believe me besides being Tight in to the corner or loose out of the corner Steering is the last thing on your mind. HP is what this sport is about. You can say what you want about NASCAR but I don't see Football teams being able to fill the stands of Daytona. I went to Last years Daytona 500 and to actually see 180,000 people in one place is amazing!
NASCAR is the fastest growing sport in the US and when you look at the price of tickets for other big sporting events it is very even. I spent $75 for my seat at Daytona and that is the biggest race of the year and I had AWSOME seats in Turn 1. I would like to see some one go to the Super bowl and get seat on the 35 to 45 yard line (comparable to my tix at Daytona) and pay $75. NOT A CHANCE
And also for people that think that Drivers are not real athletes I have a queston for you.
Have you ever driven a car with no power steering, no AC, no mirrors (besides a compact size mirror put on the driver side window for some teams), driving for 500 miles with no chance to stop to pee! and trying not to run into 42 other people all while doing 180 MPH with the heat in the car getting over 100 degrees F and wearing a suit that brings the heat up even more?
You ask any professional athlete what can stop your day faster than a bodily injury it is heat stroke/heat exhaustion. The NFL lost a very talented player last year to Heat exhaustion and these drivers have to deal with this every day at every track because most of the tracks are in the South and the ones in the north are run during the mid to late summer.

I went to the ABC school of bowling. There they made me drink 8 beers and then I had to try and roll a ball at some pins. Thats a lot harder than it looks too!

I bet you'd get about 1 million in attendance at a neckcar event if the track was in the shape of a huge trailer park! Yee Haa!

You can say what you want but I see more White collar people at Nascar than Red necks.
Tell me what is more readneck wearing shirts and watching cars go around a track or wearing no shirt painting you whole body and going to an outside game when it is -10 degrees out

Voltron: good spiel...you forgot to mention how the drivers have to be 110% focused constantly or they risk immediate death. Not a lot of dropped passes in auto racing.
March 18th, 2002, 9:17:58 PM
Serafin, rotflmao at your pot shots!!
Voltron,
180k at a race, eh? Wow. How many times a year does that happen? Then how many NFL games are there a year? I don't know. I'm just asking.
March 18th, 2002, 9:34:22 PM
There are over 500 football games and over 120 nascar races including all the series. I'm pretty sure all the nascar tracks seat over 100K. If you compare football attendence to racing I am certain internationally racing has the highest attendance of all sports and probably is tops in the US as well considering the many different series running nationally, regionally and locally. Not certain about that though there are a lot of college, high school and pop warner football leagues. I do know there are some crazy sprint car fans out there who go racing three and four times a week.

Thanks Typ0 and Rude I believe Typ0 answered the question you asked.
As far as Daytona is concerned for Winston Cup Racing (8 cylinder motors) They Run the Daytona 500 and The Pepsi 400 so that is 2 times a season that Daytona is at 180,000. As Far as Bush Grand National Racing (6 Cylinders) They may not sell it out but many times it is darn close.

Voltron, I couldn't agree with you more. Just one thing though, Busch cars are 8 cylinder cars, they have been for around 10 yrs. or more. They did however, used to be 6 cylinder though. They now run basically the same motor as the Cup cars just with a smaller compression ratio. And for what is is worth there are rumors that Jeff Gordon has been seen with Robert DeNiero's daughter. That is just a rumor as far as I am concerned.

ok, Typ0 and Voltron..
I can appreciate the fact that people like it, but you'll never get me sittin' there for hours on end watching 4 left turns and waiting for a crash. That's all the people want is a pile-up. Admit it.

Why all the hate for Jeff Gordon among fans?Did he win too much?Or is it because he's not a southerner,or a hick?
Voltron
March 19th, 2002, 12:18:46 PM
It is because he is a big Cry baby when things don't go his way and on top of that he bitches about people bumping and rubbing but he is the first guy that will come up on some ones bumper and take the air off the spoiler to get the car in front of him loose. Then he drives by them. Don't get me wrong he is one of the most talented drivers in NASCAR and I think he will break all the Records set by Petty and Earnhardt but I think he was an extremely lucky driver to be picked up as a rookie by a team with an abundance of money and he was surrounded by the best Motor people and pit crew.
It is also because people are sick of him winning all the damn time :D
I have actually talked to the guy for about 10 min out side of a pit at Loudon NH. He is a very nice person and extremely friendly. He is just the guy you love to hate on the racetrack.
March 19th, 2002, 12:37:23 PM
Yeah, Voltron=
I can't stand a guy who can dish it out but can't take his own medicine. Tony Stewart is the same way- That's like I love watchin' em rub fenders each week.
Voltron
March 19th, 2002, 12:45:43 PM
I think this Tony Stewart Jeff Gordon Rivalry is the best thing to happen to NASCAR since Dale passed away. ( I loved to Hate Dale as well) Stewart is an egomaniac and a jerk. I saw him tell a little kid that he didn't have time to sign an autograph even when there was no one else bothering him. I know that some times these guys aren't in the mood. I can understand when it is an old fart like me but when it is a 12-year-old boy who idolizes him that is just being a straight out JERK!
I guess I should also let every one know the biggest reason I hate both Tony and Jeff is cause they don't Drive FORDS!!! :D
:chevy: :badboy:
March 19th, 2002, 1:52:43 PM
Drivers who win a lot are not very well liked on most racing circuits. The only exception I can think of is Ritchie Evans but he always had a decent car but not always the best...many times he won with balls and brains and wow was it exciting.
Voltron
March 19th, 2002, 2:19:15 PM
Dale Was an exception as well I think. I am so sick of seeing people with the # 3 hat on all over the place though. Let the guy rest in peace. He was a great guy ( a cheap racer in some instances) he was one of the most winningest (is that a word?) drivers on the Circut and some of his reacords may stand for a long time. But lets Get on with Nascar .... I don't remember this when Davey or Alan died so why Dale?
