Yeah it sucks but look at the rosters. No team got more than 3 players on it. I think that had something to do with it.

What a ****ing joke. Maxim should be there without question, over Williams and Blake.

I imagine they will stick Vanek in the Young Stars game.

Drury and Max not getting in is absolutely a joke.Lets not get too many Sabres in the game I know people hate. But you cannot dispute these two have been exceptional and integral parts of the Sabres success. It is shameful how they are left off and those that select need to be whacked in the head with a blunt object.Just friggin rediculous!

Ok, no Drury or Max. Stupid, yes. But why the hell are Justin Williams, Eric Staal, and Simon Gagne there ahead of someone like Kovalchuk? Even Brind'amour deserves to be there more than Staal. We could all name at least 6 guys who deserve to be there over those 3 who I don't agree with at all. Jason Blake is sort of questionable, but he is the entire Islanders team so I can let it go. Is Gagne there only because he's the only Flyer worth dirt this year and they didn't want to snub a big market? Vanek will be in the young stars game, I guess he can be happy playing between periods at the All-Star Game.

justin williams over max...you've got to be kidding me. On one level im surprised Drury didn't make it because of the nhl/media's crush on him...but on the other hand, there isn't much about his game that is flashy, even though he is having a fantastic year. I honestly think max would be a favorite for fastest skater but i guess we can only speculate now.

i was looking forward to the skills competition more than the actual all-star game... i was actually looking forward to MAXIM being in it... but these numbskulls at the NHL put Jason Blake on the Roster... That albino JASON BLAKE?!? Eric Stall??!?!? He's on pace for 65 pts this year!

I don't know what's stranger, the powers-that-be hating the fan voting they set up, or the mentality that values last year's play over this year for roster selection.

EDIT - the TSN article linked upthread doesn't even mention Drury in the shoulda-been list.

The only thing that I can see justifying picking Justin Williams over Rod Brind'amour is that Lindy Ruff could still be steamed about his comments after last year's series.

I'm not sure that any Sabre would have made the roster this year if it weren't for fan voting.

Don't get me wrong, Its nice to see 3 of our guys out there (and I voted for all of them) but none of them is having an All Star year..

I think All Stars should be based on years of above average performance and/or exceptional play, not how many times I log into a web site and vote (But thats the NHL's cross to bear).

The NHL just has no clue how to market itself. How does the league choose Justin Williams over Max, one of the flashiest players in the game? The same could be said about Kovalchuk.

Hockey isn't popular because the league's marketers are dumb.

On the flip-side it'll be nice for Dru and Max to get a few days off to gear up for the stretch run, the Cup is all that matters right?

The success I speak of is season long,as far as the recent play its true the Sabres have had a tough go.But that does not take away from the seasons that have been turned in by Drury and Mad Max.They deserve the accolades that come with their strong play and definite contributions.

Simon Gagne- 45 GP 21 G 13 A -15
Jason Blake- 45 GP 23 G 19 A +3
Eric "Rat " Staal- 47 GP 19 G 20 A -7
Chris Drury- 45 GP 23 G 20 A +5
And the ultimate snub-
Maxim Afinogenov- 42GP 20 G 27A +11, not to forget he is arguably the most exciting and fastest skater in the NHL.

Can anyone explain this to me?? The NHL is so rediculous. Even though it's not his fault, Gary Bettman absolutely NEEDS to go so we can actually get fans around the country to see how exciting and fast paced an NHL game is. By far, the NHL is the most exciting spectators sport in the world, IMO. It's too bad all of the GM's and coaches around the league hate the Sabres.

You guys all can't be this stupid!!

You know the head coach fills out the rest of the roster right? You know Lindy Ruff is the head coach of the East right?
