The way teams play the trap and slow us down is one problem I see facing our beloved Sabres but the biggest problem, in my opinion, isn't the lack of power play scoring or Tallinder's frailty but rather the fact our defense consistantly gives up a ton of shots.

(Anyone want to do homework... It would be interesting to see how many games we have outshot our opponent after the season starting streak)

Our defense isn't close to last year's playoff caliber and the scoring chances given up are disturbing.

We rely on offensive firepower but I ask all you fans... When was the last big comeback victory? Our record might just be a bit of smoke and mirrors compared to reality. Ottawa figured that out already.

I'm not worried...with so many wins, they get lax at times.

When its playoff time and time to bear down, I see the defense coming to play.

We have so much offensive firepower, our D tends to pinch a ton. Some of the plays have resulted in d-men getting caught and odd man rushes against us.

Though it sometimes gets warm in the arenas during the playoffs in the spring,
I doubt that the players will bare down.

Really, Scary, The shots against are a bit frightening. An opponent gets a lead and slaps on the two blueline trap.

subtract the stunning start and look again. When did we have our last third period comeback?

Quality matters more than quantity. For instance, in the Blackhawk game, they got something like 33 shots on Miller. However, only about 10 were good chances.

This, to me, is a pointless thing to worry about.

Seems like it, unfortunately.

P.S.

I know you are being facetious but I would love to see Weight Tkachuk or Guerin here for the stretch run but would trade some of our excess prospects for them which is what St Louis really wants.

I don't get why a little criticism is "getting your panties in a bunch". Honestly they haven't looked that good in some of their latest games. I think we rely a little too much for our goaltender to bail us out when guys like kalinin and lydman gamble at the blueline and blow it.
