I am really dissapointed how some of you guys are just ripping me after tonights game. Why can't you just talk reasonably about the game. The leafs won that game lastnight and that's it, they are still nowhere near the calibre of the sabres and i will be the first to admit it. when i say peters got destroyed everybody goes nuts. guys, the guy sucks, get rid of him.

when the sabres dominate nobody has a problem when i start a thread saying this team might be the best i have seen since the red wings. But as soon as they lose to the leafs you guys show your true colors.

not all of you, just a select few.

pathetic.

The Sabres played horrible in the 2nd period but all anyone could do is blame the refs for the trip on spacek. It's just so annoying, why can't anyone ever admit that the sabres played poorly and the opposition deserved the win? I know the leafs suck and it's not about them.

why do you take it so seriously? you don't even really follow the league anyway, i can tell from your freaking over the max interference call. In order to rip referee's you have to know the rules first. it is clear you don't. In that situation both players are supposed to play the puck, instead max took the body before either of them had touched the puck, it was clear as day in the new NHL.

oh God, honestly man, do you watch the nhl much? in my opinion max made a great play there, he played the body and used to leverage to get the puck. However the NHL does not like that, stajan was going for the puck and max used his shoulder to gain it before he or stajan touched it. That is a penalty in the new NHL. you are acting like i love the penalty, it is garbabe but it is the correct call. You can't rip a ref for doing his job.

Enough of this bullshit. Here is the actual rule of interference, not the bduff rule:

http://www.nhl.com/hockeyu/rulebook/rule67.html

"Body position shall be determined as the player skating in front of or beside his opponent, traveling in the same direction. A player who is behind an opponent, who does not have the puck, may not use his stick, body or free hand in order to restrain his opponent, but must skate in order to gain or reestablish his proper position in order to make a check."

Maxim was not behind Stajan, he had appropriate position for a check. It's that simple.

Please point to the rule that you are imagining.

Nope. Read the notes, which are how refs are actually supposed to interpret rules.

"A player who is aware of an impending hit, not deemed to be a legal "battle for the puck", may not be interfered with by a player delivering a "pick"."

It was clearly a battle for the puck. Case closed, you are wrong.

What's up with this crybaby bullshit Bduff? Are you sincerely hurt? Suck it up dude, it's just a message board.

Here's a few reasons people DON'T want to talk with you about the game right now.

1) Your first post about the game was opening a thread, blatantly calling Buffalo fans out for saying that the Leafs get all the good calls. Way to not be hostile and just "wanting to discuss hockey." Next time keep your accusations to a minimum...

2) You created another thread, after the Sabres were down 2, solely to point out that Andrew Peters got "owned" in a fight. (My main gripe with this is the fact that so much of you people use "owned" repeatedly to describe a sporting event. This isn't cyberspace, this is ****ing hockey. That goes for all of you nerds who do this. You ever hear an announcer say "owned"? No. Because it's ****ing gay. That's neither here nor there though.) Don't think that when you create a thread when we're down two, just to point out that one of our players performed poorly in an attempt to spark team motivation that ANYONE is going to react in a peaceful manner. I did, because that's just my nature, but come on...

3) You're a Leafs fan. This is a Buffalo Sabres message board. No one owes you peaceful discussion.

The Sabres lost, plain and simple. I didn't like some of the calls, but none were game changing. Biron lost the Sabres all the momentum(which at the time they had) when he let that horrible goal by Steen in.

The Sabres didn't play well. Esp: Toni Lydman his give aways cost us dearly.

Two goals directly resulted off the stick of Toni "Dreamer" Lydman turnovers. The Sabres are entertaining the idea of sewing and alarm clock into his jersey to bring him out of his all to frequent slumbers.

im pretty realistic and i know that everyone deep down knows the sabres are the best team in the NHL, so when they lose to a team like the leafs, i dont start jumping on everyone on the boards...i mean come on...theres 82 games in a season....we are not going to beat every team every time...that does not mean the other team is better.....i mean come on guys, this was a pretty bad game for us....who is going to say that this was one of our best games? the leafs beat us...big deal...that means nothing....that doesnt mean they are better than we are.

If Max had hit him so that another Sabres player could get to the puck then it would have been clear cut interference. Since Stajan was reaching his stick out to touch the puck and Max touched it immediately after the hit the call was borderline at best. That's not why the Sabres lost but it was not a good call.

At first I thought it was because you were a fan of the game first and then your Leafs second...but the moment there is any mention of a Leafs player you get absolutely defensive, most times ignoring your "love of the game" rationale.

The Sabres, like your Leafs, are a very personal subject. Here let me put it into a more "personal" scenario to maybe open your eyes:

"Hey AF, your girlfriend is pretty hot, but she's got kind of a fat gut...real cute features on her though - she could probably be a model if she lost a couple pounds. Real champion material. Hey, I've got a girlfriend too, she's not as good as your girlfriend..."

This is the way I see it at least. The majority of the people on this board are fans of the sport, in general, and most of them are knowledgable and fair. However, the Sabres, or in your case bduff, the Leafs, will always be front and center in their hearts and the biases will follow accordingly. The mere thought of the Leafs makes my unhappy; their fans acting like *******s at the arena, Darcy Tucker, the cocky Pat Quinn days etc...and I'm pretty sure most of these guys feel the same way. I understand your an objective, knowledgable fan of the game, but I can't help but think your Leaf pride came to the forefront last night and it definitly rubbed people the wrong way on here. For all of us here, the Sabres, and the Bills for that matter, are a very sensitive subject. The shitty play of our club mixed with your pro- Leaf commentary pretty much put all of us over the edge. That's why you got the response you did.
