gerald ford's passing and watching why we fight has got me to thinking.

Whatever happened to president's being decent human beings? When did we as a society allow scumbags into office? did it start with JFK?

Why isn't that the most important factor in determining who will be our leader? decency and integrity don't much matter any more apparently.

Cable news, the internet and political tactics changing so that going through people's underwear drawers is now a generally accepted practice when they enter public life...

It's hard to find people with no skid marks.

I understand that. I get that people aren't perfect but you can still find the decent ones.

The agendas of news outlets is also a huge impediment

Interesting that all this revisionist crap is coming out now about Ford, though.

If he was so 'decent' he should have beat Carter in a landslide, no ? ;)

Two terms, even, because he didn't even do a full one, LOL

I dont' think there is anything revisionist about ford, he was always a good guy.

as for him beating carter, who clearly is a superior huiman being, that was never going to happen. he pardoned nixon and the american people were not going to ever allow the man to pardon nixon to remain president

well, apparently the american public hated nixon so much that had ford executed him publically he would have demolished carter.

but yes, apparently our blood lust gets us everytime
