Ducks... I still questioning their Offense. Selanne having just a monster season, and those younger players are following very well but it's definitely not going to scare anybody. Best Def and Great Goalies

Sabres.. Great Offense, Briere, Afino, Drury, Vanek is at top and Pominville, Hecht, Kotalik, Roy is behind them. Injury is concern, always missing some good player each night, and Goalie is giving up little too many.

Ducks is better right now but One of those 4 stars go down you will see vulnerable Ducks (Whatever Ducks fans say how balance their team is they will fall, If Selanne (best player in NHL right now), Pronger (27 mins, best Defender), Niedermyer (27 mins, Not far behind), and Giguerre (Bryz.. was great last year but Injury is concern this year..) is gone for few weeks or month.

Selanne (best player in NHL right now)

Are you on Drugs? He's not even the best guy on his team.

It'd be a close game that I'd love to watch. I think the west's reputation is inflated. the Rangers knocked off the Ducks and Sharks in back to back nights, and tonight they beat the Stars, even after taking 11 minor penalties. 18 mins of PK and they still won.

I'm thinkin Sabres.

This is a great question to ask in a SABRES forum. I wonder who the general population will pick?!?!?!?!?!? Oooo the drama of waiting.

Buffalo would have been there last year without injuries, but then maybe the Rangers would have shown up too.

Barring injuries or a hot goalie causing an early exit, it is lining up to be the Ducks AND the Sabres. Who's hungrier? Who has the suprises that will come off the bench? Who has the smarts behind the bench?

I lean to the Ducks but also think they have the greater possibility of crashing after a strong season (can anyone say Detroit...)

My heart would want Buffalo if it is between Ducks/Sabres. Sabres have more history (bring the French connection back to party) and is truly more a rabid hockey town. There was a school band last year from Edmonton who went down to Disneyland and picked up 30 tickets to go to the playoff game while they were there. Impossible in a real hockey town. Do you think Tampa Bay has lingering fond memories of a great Stanley Cup run? Outside the 20,000 in the rink, who in Carolina was in a frenzy? Buffalo would go nuts. Let's see the cup go this year to a team whose city would be eternally grateful and would see a generation of young fans caught up following thier heros and dreaming Stanley Cup dreams.

I was a former Whaler fan...

Do you think I like teams like the Ducks? I hate them much more than the Sabres, whom at least have fans who care...

Can I say....... SWEEP!!!

Only if I can say "PLAYED OUT AND OLD RESPONSE TO NWF POSTS!!!" There's no place for that crap in this thread. It's at least a legit thread asking for opinions.

Anyway... It's really hard to say right now. I wish the Sabres played them at some point in the season. But right now, just judging by my doubting the Sabres, I'll say the Ducks. They just seem to be a more complete team night in and night out lately. Sabres have had their slip ups, but this 3 game streak is nice. If they keep it up, I won't have to doubt much more.

I think it would be a great cup final...it would probably go to 6 or 7 with the Sabres winning in the end...also i bet there would be a lot of overtime games, the Ducks are very good

Being a Sabres fan ill have to say the Sabres, we have depth all the way through our organization and have dealt with injuries all year long. We still have one of our most talented forwards out and that being Timmy. The Ducks and the Sabres record wise are very similar. The Ducks have played 3 more games than us and lead us in points by 6. If it were the Stanley Cup right now and both teams were playing I think it would be a 7 game series with us pulling it out in OT in game 7 barring any injuries

No place in this thread for that crap? So your telling me NWF makes one good thread and we should forget all the other pointless threads he has made in the past. Gimme a break. We are going to do it until he gets banned or leaves. Rangers suck, NWF sucks.......................SWEEP

The Ducks have organizational depth as well. If you look at the AHL standings, the ducks farmteam up in Portland is right up there with the Rochacha

It would be interesting to see what the Ducks would be like with severe injuries such as the Sabres have taken. Would they tank and start losing?

Right now I would have to say the Sabres. Even when they look like crap on the ice, 98% of the time they still win the game

But when we're healthy and going full blast I think we have the firepower and skill to beat them

I actually kind of agree with NWF here, to some extent (I know its hard to believe.) I've watched the Ducks play on Centre Ice quite a bit, and they have AWESOME goaltending and defense, and an offense that can beat you with underrated players like Getzlaf and Kunitz. I have to say that the Ducks look a LITTLE bit better than the sabres because of their consistency. As of late the sabres have been very inconsistent and have been barely hanging in there against teams like Florida. I will say, however, that I think the sabres have a much tougher schedule playing in the Eastern Conference than the Ducks do.

I have to give it to the Ducks because of their powerplay. It's ranked #1 in the NHL. The Sabres Powerplay is week.

It seems every year the Sabres have a shot at the cup there is always someone better. In the 70's it was the Flyers, in 1998 it was the Stars, last year it was the Hurricanes (and injuries), now this year it seems to be the Ducks.

I hope I'm wrong.

GO SABRES!

This is a great question to ask in a SABRES forum. I wonder who the general population will pick?!?!?!?!?!? Oooo the drama of waiting. It's an especially stupid question considering it's asked every week and half or so. The bottom line is the speculation is pointless as it's a good five and a half months til the possiblity of the teams even meeting.

The Ducks are kind of overrated, if anything happened to Selanne, Niedermayer, or Pronger they're sunk. They overcame injuries to Giguere and Bryzgalov which shows that their goaltending is not that key to their success. Both goaltenders are good, but its their defense that wins them games, AKA Niedermayer and Pronger. After those 2 their best d-man is Beuchemin, I can't even name anyone else on their defense, that says enough. Their defensive depth is their weakness, losing Salei and Vishnevski hurts their depth a lot, their forwards are good though. It would be a great Cup Final Series between the Ducks and Sabres, but I'd be willing to bet it won't happen. If the Sharks and Stars don't face each other in the 1st round I want Anaheim to have to take both of them on before getting to the Finals. Niether team may beat them, but wearing down or injuring Pronger or Niedermayer would sink their ship. That's why Buffalo can beat the Ducks, I think we'll add to our defensive depth sometime before the playoffs and have the forward depth to beat them if we face the Ducks.

Ducks are better. We beat them, by the way, in Anaheim.

If the Rangers can beat the Ducks then we shouldn't even have to ask who's better. Obviously the Sabres are, I mean jeez, how does anyone except the Flyers lose to the Rangers?

NJ has great Def and a great Goalie(better than the ducks) and you seen how that game played out!!

Ducks...

They just have better consistency...ok, so they lost 2 in a row and we didnt.

BIG DEAL!!!

They just consistently show up more often, whereas the Sabres (tonight in 4th game against Ottawa) just can't get it together. Im pretty disappointed tonight.
