What do you think is the best coaching job in college football?

I dont mean the job you would want either. Like for example I would want the ND job but I think Texas is the best coaching gig in college.

Couple thngs to keep in mind

Pressure to win
Recruiting status, easy/hard?
National profile
Location
Div

I think Texas is for a couple reasons

1.Recruiting is pretty much a cake walk for the Longhorns. They have bassically the pick of the litter in a state that is flat out stocked w/ talent.

2.The fans are great

3.There is pressure to win but not unjust pressure. You have to beat Oklahoma and at least contend for a title every 3 years. Again theres pressure but not ND or Alabama Pressure where the Booster and Alumni can get a little crazy.

4.The Big 12 is good enough so you have a decent schedule every year and in some years you may run the table in the conference and that looks really good on your resume for Bowl games

5.The college is located in a pretty nice area

Kansas.

1) No pressure.
2) Fans come out, just to drink
3) once the mid season swoon begins, you know no one will write about it because basketball has started.
4) Boosters keep putting money into the program even if you do nothing
5) Bob Davis and Max Fulkenstein
6) You can leave the school and still be conisdered great.
7) You can cheat and get a slap on the wrisit
8) Basketball coach openly supports you, making you unfireable

Bama - hands down.

Cool uniforms.
Best nickname in college football
coolest slogan in sports
a fight song that talks about sending people to a watery grave
and filling the shoes of the Bear is the type of pressure felt only by a nuclear sub captain approaching crush depth.

Couldn't think of a better place to coach.

I don't know if there's one job that's the best because that could change from year to year.

But always in the discussion is Michigan, Ohio State, Florida, Texas, and Notre Dame.

Miami, USC, or Texas

Miami's not considered a great job by many coaches.

Their facilities suck and they don't pay as well as you'd think.

Great athletes and recruiting base, yes. But most coaches who go there only go angling to get an NFL job someday (Johnson, Erickson, Davis, for example).

1) DII- so no pressure of the national spotlight and if you've ever attended the games you know that the students don't really care rather or not you are really good or really bad as the stadium is always about half full

2) MIAA- good conference and there is always a chance that one or two of your players per year will end up in the NFL

3) The new admin is actually interested in funding improvements and you have sprinturf and great uniforms

4) Pay is decent

5) Scandals or you suck? Nobody cares, you're DII

Guy is going to have his career shortened by heart attack. He needs a strength and conditioning coach to get him in shape.

So now the Range has become a place where we aren't allowed to disagree/debate?

Hmmmm, I guess I never got that memo.

But thanks for letting me know for future reference. I'll be sure to tell Gil the next time you have a "discussion" with him about Donte Whitner.

Could you Coach a team with burnt orange as their dominant color?

I'd keep the logo though. Hook 'em horns was always pretty cool.

Its like if I coached K-State. I'd keep the Powercat (one of the cooler logos in college football), I'd just dump the purple.

And I'd put NFL style uniforms on the cheerleaders.

They can recruit from Texas and Oklahoma.
They have a rich tradition.
Their facilities are fantastic.

The weather is nice.
Good conference.

lol

I thought the way you responded was funny and this was funny too.
It wasnt written like a disagreement, more like I was a dumb student and you the teacher had to put me in my place.

Perhaps I had my reasons for choosing Miami? Nah.

Why the holiest football place in the nation.

The Bethelem of college football.

The only place where a REAL college football fan, worthy enough, would remove his shoes and genuflect.

Florida State University.
