What percentage of actors are black? I'd bet less than their representation of the population. And how many major actors are there on SNL. About 8 or so? So why is it unreasonable not to see a black actor on SNL? Maybe because they hire who they feel are the most talented and not by the notion "we need a black guy on the set"? Perhaps. I think that they've autditioned but they (along with a HUGE number of white people) just didn't make the cut.

It's not racist; it's just been essentially de-nutted by the Corporate ownership of the network. SNL's iconic status was earned mostly due to its edgy and somewhat subversive nature, and that has been taken away. The only place shows like that can be found anymore is on cable networks.

I figure the send-up of Lorne that Mark McKinney did in The Kids in the Hall movie would probably be a pretty accurate rep of Lorne's character traits/mannerisms.

i find amy poehler and fred armisen hysterically funny.

but other than that, i couldn't care less.

my all time favorite was horatio sanz (and the original cast). phil hartman was funny in small doses - he was way funnier on newsradio, IMO.



i'm not saying it's a racist show prima facie - it just strikes me as weird that the people of color are 1) disproportionately represented on the show, 2) not given skits when on the show, 3) not on the cast for long, 4) replaced by suburban frat/sorority boy/girl idiots.
