Does anyone else think its strange that they aren't in a conference, play a bunch of creampuffs, lose the tough games, and still play a BCS game?
I've heard all the arguments, "they want to keep the money", "The TV contract", blah blah, blah......
To bad..... playing in a BCS bowl, more importantly the National Championship game, should require winning your conference (I know it doesn't now, Michigan got screwed and all of that) but it should.
Just another reason on the long, long list of things I hate about ND

I thik its amazing that they added a 5th game to supposedly highlight teams from non bcs conferences when it seems like it is the notre dame invitiational game
either 8 straight bowl losses, and lsu looms large

To be honest, all I heard this offseason was how hard Notre Dame's schedule was going to be.
It wasnt a horrible schedule. Geogia Tech, Michigan, USC, Purdue, and UCLA all had decent seasons. It's funny how the season goes. Everyone cries about Notre Dame having to fight to beat a team like UCLA, but then UCLA beats USC.

It's pretty simple. The BCS wants Notre Dame if they have a 1 or 2 loss year. Why? Because Notre Dame has the biggest fanbase in college football. That's right. They have more fans than Ohio State. It's an easy sell for whichever BCS game gets them. Do you think that they are excited about Boise State being in the BCS? Heck no. They have to count on Oklahoma to sell out the game (they will of course) but it's a tougher sell.
So in otherwords you are just saying you hate Notre Dame because they bring money to the NCAA. We understand.

Oh...I understand.... but in a time when the legitimacy of the BCS is at an all time low, its hard for me to believe they would want a horrible team to play in the BCS.
And of course the legions and legions of misguided and delusional ND fans are gonna show up, and tume in.... just like everyone else. We're gonna sit there and watch LSU absolutely dismantle Notre Dame....just like they've been crushed in every other big game they play in.
If I'm Brady Quinn I ask to ride the bench....playing LSu will do nothing but hurt his draft stock.

Ding Ding Ding Ding We have a Winner!
N.D. is a NCAA cash cow plain and simple.
You think the people of the Sugar Bowl or the BCS give a crap whether or not its a good game between LSU and N.D.? F no, they care more about the tickets sold, Mech $$$, the Ads they can sell, and the crap load of fans that will come down to N.O. for the game. ND fans travel well and they know it.
This also happens to be a reason why ND has lost 8 straight Bowl games, b/c they are often matched up in Bowl games that they really shouldnt be in in the first place but b/c of the $$$ they are there
This one I'm sad to admit will be no different
Heres my post on it already made in another thread
Yea as much as I want them to win, ND is set up for a disaster in the Sugar Bowl
Big mobile strong arm QB w/ speed to burn at WR's and a good secondary w/ an underrated DL playing in a dome on a fast surface in LSU back yard.
I'm really not liking the way that is setting up lol
Bassically what we do good on offense they defend well on defense and what they do on offense we dont defend well

Well I'm not saying I don't agree with you. I don't think Notre Dame will win the Sugar Bowl but since they were in the top 12 in the BCS they can go to a BCS game and it's no surprise that they are in one. It's all about money. That's why there is no playoff system of course and that's why Notre Dame is still independant.
The allmighty dollar rules all.

1st who give a crap about the fiesta bowl, rose bowl, orange bowl, or which ever one isn't the title game? If you aren't playing for the national title then it's just another game, so if ND gets in the BCS bowls over other teams who aren't qualified for the national championship either who gives a rats ass?
ND was expected to have one of the toughest schedules in the country coming into the year, but Mich. State was a terrible disappointment, Georgia Tech only had a so so year, ect. Turns out the schedule wasn't so tough, but that isn't ND's fault.

Jup, that's why LSU started a campain and ticket reservations for the Sugar Bowl before their place was secure. Or why the Non-BCS conferences complain about usually being left out. All because BCS-bowls are just another games.
Which incidentially pay a lot more cash than any of the other non-BCS bowls.
