Anyone else watching this game tonight? After the Duke/Indiana game last night I'm finally ready for college basketballl....
The ACC always kicks the BigTens ass, but Indiana gave Duke a hell of a game on the road last night...... I'm looking for the OSU upset on the road tonight at 9......
oh, and nyjunc, you know we gotta bet something.......chips?

Im hoping Ohio State loses big to North Carolina so we dont have to hear from WXP for a while.

Chips, avatar- I am up for anything. It's going to be very difficult for OSU to go into Chapel Hill and beat the Heels tonight. I won't say it's a lock b/c anything can happen but the Heels hold the record for most times beating a #1 and I expect they'll add to that record tonight.

Well thats dumb.....
You've gotta root for the Big Ten in these things......
And losing to a great basketball team, on the road, early in the season, without our best player isn't gonna break my stride......Its gonna be a tough game to win. Especially after NC already lost.

You're right... if we had Oden I'd be alot more confindent. Oden will be the most dominant force in NCAA basketball upon his return.
But I'm not gonna not bet you....5K in chips and an avatar for a week..... thats the bet.

No, I root for Michigan and no one else.
They are getting back to respectable in Basketball, but they need a big time recruit, its just harder to recruit now, we have to work harder.

The difference btw CFB and CBB is they decide Champuions ont he court not in the polls.
Good game by OSU, I expected them to play very well and they didn't disappoint. if they can shoot 3's like that regulalry they will be very difficult to beat when teams are doubling down on Oden and giving them wide open 3's. of course w/o Oden we gave them wide open 3's all night so I guess that's a preview. We have to get better at defending the 3, we played very well in spurts but overall it wasn't a crisp game. We are getting better every game and the bench is getting a little shorter, if we can play better permiter D and hit our FTs we'll have a great chance to cut down the nets in Atlanta.

Fun game....VERY poorly officiated. We didn't have an answer for Hansbrough in the 2nd half....... yet. I'm pretty sure the most dominant big man in NCAA basketball would have made a difference, and you could tell it was killing him not to be out there.

November 30th, 2006, 11:19:28 AM

What excuse...... we lost, but we were also without our best player...
And if you didn't see that the officiating was horrible than you don't understand the game..... There were bad calls both ways, but the home team definately got the better end of it... thats just a fact.
UNC won the game, they were the better team...... at full strength we win, thats just my opinion.

And the officiating wasn't horrible when IU went to Duke the other night? The difference is I'm not whining about it. We lost. It's just how it is.
And the funniest part about this post is that you claim you lost without your best player. Your best player who hasn't played one minute on the college level.
Ohio State has a lot of raw talent but the biggest thing that stuck out to me last night is they don't play like a team. Everyone was doing there own thing a lot of the time. That's the biggest thing that stuck out to me.

Don't play like a team? Because we could slash to the basket and score? You know what, forget it....

I didn't say he wasn't going to be dominant but he still has yet to play a minute in college. I think I'll wait to see him play before I call him Shaq or Wilit.
That's what I'm saying. Saying he's your best player before he's even played a game is ridiculous.
TRIPLE P

That's what I'm saying. Saying he's your best player before he's even played a game is ridiculous.
Why when its true......
If you polled every college coach, every basketball analyst, and fan in the country 99% of them would agree that Oden is our best player.....
He's the best HS center since Patrick Ewing, he'd have been the #1 pick in the NBA if he was eligable to be drafted in the last 2 drafts and if he was in the NBA he'd be a top 5 center at THAT level..... They don't just invite anyone to play on the USA basketball team.
Connoly, Cook, R-Lew, thaey are gret players... but none of them will have the impact on our game like Oden.
UNC attacked us perfectly in the 2nd half, Hansbrough down low, and they cleaned up the boards.... we didn't have an answer....they challenged us outside and disrupted our unreal 3 point shooting.....
When Oden is back he will HAVE to be double or tripled down low, leaving our guys uncontested to drain 3's..... and Odens D is his string suit....UNC doesn't get half those boards and baskets down low with Oden in the game.... thats just a fact.
BF_in_Indiana
November 30th, 2006, 3:14:26 PM
Until he plays a game it's still hype. By your logic Eric Gordon is the best player on the Hoosiers roster and he won't be playing until '07.
See where I'm going with that? I think he will be a great player no doubt but he could just as easily be the next flop.

I get what you're saying until the "just as easily" part.... he's about as blue chip as you can get.....the chances of him failing are slim to none.....
And even if he's not the dominant force he's expected to be, a 7 ft athlete will definately create more space for our shooters.
Its not as though Oden isn't coming to school til 07.... he should be playing right now, but he was injured.....
He's on our roster.... Greg Oden is the best player on our roster.

What?
Clearly there were some bad calls that went against Ohio State..... the end of the first half, they put no time back on, and then call a violation immediately when clearly there was time.... the Ball goes out of bounds off UNC, and they call a phantom foul on Hunter, the ball hits the back of the backboard and its not out of bounds?
And clearly Oden would have made a huge difference considering they won the game attacking where he would excel....
But... UNC won because they played better at the end.....I'm not blaming the refs for the loss..... the team lost the game because they got away from what was working.....
f'd in the a...?....hardly.

I wonder how much Ohio State is paying Oden, probably more than they paid Troy Smith and Clarrett. Ohio State will do anything to win.

The officiating was bad both ways, Hansbrough was fouled all night w/ few calls. We shot many more Fts b/c we attacked the basket while you guys just shot jump shots. Of course Oden will make a big difference but when we play D that will make a big difference too, right now we are playing in spurts. We gave you a preview of what it will be like w/ Oden, when you have Oden your shooters will get alot of open looks- we gave them to you w/o Oden.
You also have to remember that your 3 PT shooting kept you in the lead all 1st half and in the game in the 2nd half, w/ Oden in there he commmands alot of shots which means less 3s, so don't just assume b/c the game was relatively close w/o him you'd win if you had him. We beat UConn in '03 w/o Sean May, had we played again w/ Sean we may not have won again.

I love reading your jealousy posts.... it makes you so mad that Ohio State is so much more relevant than Michigan.
All of our major sports are better than all of your major sports...... think about that for a second. Ask yourself, "is that gonna change?" .....then you'll come to the conclusion that "no, it won't" because your coaches and athletic department are inept........
Furthermore.......please prove that the University had anything to do with players getting money....please.... and no, Maurice Clarett isn't a credible witness.

Oden would have made more of a difference defensively than offensively... and on the glass...... Hansbrough was dominant down low because he was uncontested.... Oden would have put a stop to that from the get-go.

You aren't hurting my feelings about Notre Dame. It's the nature of sports. Everything goes in cycles. How quickly your forget that Ohio State sucked durring the 1980's. If the refs hadn't robbed Miami in '02 you would still not have a National Title since 1968. So trying to make fun of Notre Dame for a down decade isn't going to bother me. They are back on the National Map and you know it. Trying to deny it is just out of your own ignorance or fear. Take your pick on that one.
As far as Troy Smith goes you can't have it both ways. First you tell me that Ohio State doesn't cheat. Then you openly admit that Troy Smith is playing after taking money (a direct violation of NCAA eligability rules) but try to say that because he made a mistake and admitted to it it's ok. You were the guy trashing on Reggie Bush for what happened with that. I don't care if it's 500 or 500,000. It's the same violation to me.
