A little help, please! My wife and I will be celebrating our 1 year aniversary in early April. We've decided to go hang out in Toronto for the weekend of April 6th. I've been there a few times for various events, but usually just with the fellas. I'm looking for good restaurants, hotels, places to go, events that may be going on that weekend, etc... Any help from our Canadian friends here would be appreciated! Thanks!

Phan, also stop in Ontario Travel just before the Ganden City Skyway... that's the first big bridge you come to as you're flaotin' down the QEW, just past Niagara falls, ON. The folks in there will be able to give you advise, brochures, book a hotel room for you (perhaps at a bette rate.. ask for one) and exchange your money. The next big city you come to just over the bridge is st. Catharines.. my home town. Exit Lake St., turn north, and about 500 yards down on your right hand side will be a place called Joe Fetas Greek Village. Eat there. They have the best Greek food available anywhere in the world!

You sound so sad. :( Did your wife pass away or are you divorced? Sometimes life throws some pretty nasty things at us. It's obvious that you're hurting but things will get better. Life is about learning and growing and next time you won't make the same mistakes. Have a little faith Really Sad & Lonely Guy. :)

Also try out Harbour 60 and North 44. They're two really nice restaurants to go on for your anniversary.
If you're looking for something really nice (but also $$$$ - but hey, its Canadian, so I guess that won't really matter), you can go to Suser (I'll check out the spelling in a bit - it sounds like "Sue - Sir"). The chef at the place was recruited by Robert DeNiro to be a chef at one of his restaurants in TriBeca (TriBeca Bar and Grill I think - its one of the best restaurants in NY) but turned him down.
March 11th, 2002, 1:11:06 PM
sous sur?
Canucklehead
March 11th, 2002, 2:48:42 PM
Susur is the correct spelling. Its named after the head chef, Susur Lee.

North 44 at Yonge & Eglinton gets my vote...
Check out the menu;
http://toronto.com/E/V/TORON/0034/03/59/
I reccomend the lamb...nice rack!
If you want another fabulous restaurant, across the road is Centro...fabulous place
http://toronto.com/E/V/TORON/0010/88/56/
The Nunavik Caribou Chop is something you won't find just anywhere & is fabulous.
Remember the prices are all in CDN $, so cut all the prices in half.
For both, make your reservations @ 1 or 2 weeks in advance.

On Front Street, just across the road & east of the Skydome/CN tower...I always meet my pals there if I"m going to a Jays game.
If you like Italian, there's also Alice Fazooli's on Adelaide Street...excellent. http://toronto.com/E/V/TORON/0013/42/40/
Don't forget Toronto has Chinese food like you've never had before...Check out Chinatown on Spadina Ave. A good place for Dim Sum is th Bright Pearl http://toronto.com/E/V/TORON/0039/48/00/1.html

I smell a ROAD TRIP!!
March 12th, 2002, 8:33:15 AM
If it's warm enough, there's a real nice paved "boardwalk" kind of thing along the lake from downtown westward that runs for quite a ways. I biked it while up there for a conference. I brought one of my bikes, but you may be able to rent one or simply go walking. It was neat.
Also, back a ways off the beaten strip, is Toronto University. There's a "dorm" there called "the Castle" affectionately I believe. They film many a movie up there. It's really cool looking and it's off the beaten path enough so that there are a lot of cool more local kind of bars/restaurants up there that I liked it better than downtown.
That Pepsi girl was there filming that Helen Keller movie. Whatever it was called. There's a chance that they'll be filming as well. Either way, it's a cool place. I stayed there for cheap, but that was during the summer.
The whole complex and area is about a mile or slightly more almost due north of Toronto downtown.
The wings at Gretzky's were NOT good at all...
;)

March 12th, 2002, 9:31:58 AM
I had fish and chips.. tres bien!
Toronto is a sh!t hole. Why anyone would want to go there is beyond me. Too damn big and too damn busy!
For example, who here knew that the 401 north of the city is the busiest stretch of rush hour road in N. America? What is it Duff, like 14 lanes at some points?

March 12th, 2002, 9:34:52 AM

Actually, my favorite author is James Patterson. He wrote "Kiss the Girls" which was made into a movie staring Ashley Judd. He writes a series of books with a DC homicide detective, Alex Cross. I think he's one of the best!
As far as your list:
New Male Boss - Yeah, I think he's got something up his sleeve.
Woman Boss - I don't like her at all and think she's power hungry, but she's not part of the conspiracy.
Nina - Is absolutely not evil! For pete's sake Jack shot her! She's just in love with Jack. That doesn't make her bad, it makes her stupid. lol
Tony - He's a good guy. You'll see. He's been helping both Nina and Jack. I trust him.
Jack - Yeah, he's definitely the hero. I never looked at Kiefer Sutherland before, but he's a good looking guy. lol He's intelligent and cleaver and sexy in a tough way. I really like him. :)
Can't wait for tonight at 9pm!! Both you and Ticat are WRONG!

Yes Patrick, you told me about your wife leaving you. I'm sorry to hear that. But, if you read the Bible like you say you do, you'd know premarital sex is a sin. That's why I intend to wait until my wedding night. I guess that's what I was trying to say in my above post. I don't plan on being intimate until I'm married. :angel1:

NP Patrick. :) I am definitely a flirt but I'm not a slut by any means. And yeah, I really do intend to wait. I guess I'll just have to hope that the guy won't suck. lol And he can always get better. After all, it does take awhile to get comfortable with someone. I guess it's a chance I'm willing to take and as long as the guy truly loves me, I'll be fine if he's not the greatest lover. :)

Absolutely! Swatow, on Spadina north of Dundas is my favorite.
It's a little hole in the wall, no fancy decor, but the food is superb.
If you like Thai, the best food I've had outside of Bangkok, Chiang Mai or *****et is the Thai Shan Inn on Eglinton at Dufferin...again one of those no decor places, but the food is sooooperb.
