I'm guessing you mean John Fogerty.

Tom Fogerty died like 15 years ago.

Although, I gotta say, John Fogerty is the king. And I must commend your obvious good taste in endorsing his music.

You should hear the song he wrote about the Iraq War a few years ago, JKiG.

It's called "Deja Vu All Over Again".

If you have limewire or any other program to download songs, you should check it out immediately. It's unbelievable.

Because Tom Fogerty died a long-ass time ago.

And, by the way, John Fogerty is the king. You should hear the song he wrote about the Iraq War a few years ago.

It's called "Deja Vu All Over Again".

So. ****ing. Good.

If you don't have a means to hear that song, let me know. I'll try to load it or something. He likens Iraq to Vietnam in it. It's seriously such a great, ****ing song.

Also, I gotta say, CCR was the most underrated band of the 60's.

I'll even go so far to say I like them more than the Beatles, the Doors, Jimi Hendrix, & Bob Dylan.

What's funny is how the hippies rejected CCR just because they were too "blue collar".

Which, personally, makes me like them ten times more.

They wrote music about shit that mattered, made a lot of awesome rock songs, & hippies hated them. What a perfect mix.

How is it uncalled for? Or are you just saying something ridiculous without any actual information like every other time you post on this board.

I think the NFL is pissed at the way it's been used by the Bushies, especially with Pat Tillman.

That's why it's elevated Fogerty from pre-show status to half time headliner.

Maybe the West Coast hippies did, which is ironic because they were a Bay Area Band.

Give me a brake the "military display" at a football game is to show love of

country.

That's laughable, as if you can only love the country by shows of military might, and not with dissent.

Stuff it turkey.

I'm not saying its the only way.....

But it's overtly political. How do you know that Fogerty's song isn't representative of the way in which many of us love our country?

Fogerty's song was about the draft......we have not had a draft since 72

what does that have to do with love of country ?

What does not having a draft since 1972 have to do with love of country, is that what you're asking me?

Which is funny, I always liked how CCR played under the pretense that they were from the deep south when they were a Cali band from the get-go.

Obviously I wasn't around for the 60's, but one thing I read over & over is how CCR was never embraced like a lot of the other anti-Vietnam musicians of the time because they didn't live up to the gay, hippy image.

And yes, Willy & The Poorboys + Cosmo's Factory had crossover power because they were such great albums so I can't contest that.

Anyway, point is, love John Fogerty, love CCR.

As a guy who was around in the 60s, I can tell you that CCR got HUGE props from EVERYONE.

I never met anyone who wasn't a CCR fan. Seriously.

When you look at CCR's hit list you'll realize how much they influenced the American lexicon.

In a way, John Fogerty was the original Bruce Springsteen.

The long version of "Keep on chooglin'" is my all time favorite CCR track.

My dad was a huge fan of theirs.

I can't remember much of their music, but didn't they sing that song "That's the way I like it"? Or something like that??

a CCR Greatest hits album was the first album I ever bought as a kid. At the time, I just liked their sound.

I think the cool thing is, their sound isn't blues, isn't country, isn't alogether rock.. From what I know, Swamp rock is really pretty regionalized, even in Louisiana. Its so cool that a bunch of guys from San Fran could carry the sound. (But I still like Hendrix better)

And their cover version of Midnight Special is the best out there, hands down.

You are right, at least in the American tradition. Woody Guthrie, Carl Perkins, Chet Atkins, Bob Dylan.

They were the buildind blocks that became popular music in that time. Throw in Little Richard, Chuck Berry and rhythm an blues in the '50's. What do you come up with?

They didn't, music was experimental back then, they didn't want to sound like the Mommas and the Papas and the Greatful Dead, but they did play from the heart.

No shit.

That's what you get for reading.

I like the band. Fogerty's pipes are kinda shot compared to, say, Lindsay Buckingham. OTOH they're great compared to Ian Anderson. If I had to draw a retrospective analogue, they'd be the Green Day of their time. I don't think either band ever wrote a really bad song.
