Andrew Peters is a worthless bench spot. His fight with McGrattan did nothing to benefit the game, pure goon show. He skates like 1 minute a game and he hasn't done anything to protect or avenge shots at our star players. He doesn't play on the penalty kill or powerplay so whenever we could use an extra guy to kill penalties Ruff has to put out of all people, Thomas Vanek?? If we have a guy like Paille in there who is good at killing penalties and is not a liability, then that frees us to go back to our 4 line offense.

It is cap related more than anything else. I partially agree with benching Peters. At the beginning of the year, I liked him in the lineup. He was one of the few big tough guys on the roster. Yes, he lacks offensive talent, but he isn't out there to score goals. Rob Ray never put up much offense either. However, if Ruff is only going to give him 3 minutes of ice time per game, what is the point of even dressing him?

I agree, bring up Paille until we play teams like Philly where we need Peters.

Yeah, I'm sick of Peters. He's a cool guy but has no skill.

he's really not even worth that though. For a guy his size, he fights scared.

My input is that we've already had 20898432905 threads about it, pal. No need to go through it again. But I will...for you.

Peters goes, and so does one of our stars...to injury. You have to have a fighter or two around.

Why must Sabre fans find someone to bitch about? Last season it was Rory Fitzpatrick. In other seasons it was Richard Smehlik or Alexi Zhitnik. The team won 16 of its first 20 games, can't we just be happy about the way things are going. Andrew Peters is not hurting the team and the team would have no better record with Paille in the lineup. So why don't we all just sit back, relax, have a Blue and watch the Sabres win lots of games and hopefully the cup come June.

Well I don't mind having a grinder who fights people. Too bad Peters isn't a grinder, not really. I had high hopes this season for him having dropped some weight and started to skate more. He hasn't done anything aside from turning the game against Detroit with the fight win. But even so if we go on that, several games in our favor have turned after fights where he got owned. Chris Neil is a pain in the ass, but he fights and can still be a grinder who contributes in ways without punching people. If we need a goon, let's find one like him if Peters isn't gonna be that guy. Peters needs to either be used in more situations, or scratched if he's going to play 3-5 mins a game. Hell, we could waive him and bring him up and down as we please and play someone who will take ice time. Nobody's gonna claim Peters off waivers.

Peters should've been in the lineup last season when Tucker took out Hecht's knees causing him to miss part of the playoffs. Oh wait, he was.

With good cause. He sucked, and there were better options within the organization. Proven without a doubt in the 7th game of the ECF. While i think the topic is well worth discussion considering Peters ice time has been cut to around 1 min per game, i think there are issues centering around the salary cap that makes this a closed subject. As things stand, a move won't be made because it can't.

I used to get terribly upset at the prospect of seeing Peters in the lineup regularly. But I've come to accept it. I think the problem is one of perspective. I'm trying not to look at him with the expectation of seeing a functional hockey player. When's he's on the ice, I like to think of it as penalty killing practice. Or pretend he's a broken stick the players keep having to avoid. That usually helps get me through his shifts, though I still do occasionally find myself sacrificing a small farm animal in prayer for Tim Connolly's headaches to stop.

If Peters is on the ice in the post-season, I don't think my television will survive the first round.

With our cap issues Peters will likely be cut/waived down to Rochester. His salary off the books may not help us enough to stay under the cap especially if we wanted to add a player or 2 for the playoffs. I wonder, if we're #1 going into the playoffs maybe someone would wanna play with us so badly they'd rework their contract just to be traded here? If a guy wants a Cup that badly, maybe they would.
