1.) Arizona - Calvin Johnson, WR Georgia Tech - Talk about a team that doesn't want to be in the number one spot, but no one wants to deal with them. So here they sit. Even with Boldin and Fitzgerald sitting there, this kid's talent is too raw to pass up. He's a rare talent and you better take a rare talent in the number one spot.
2.) Detroit - Gaines Adams, DE Clemson - This kid has Julius Peppers written all over him. Mario Williams didn't start off at the top of the draft charts, but when it gets down to crunch time, Gaines will have the same rise up the charts. He'll look good along with last year's first rounder Ernie Sims.
3.) Oakland - Tedd Ginn, Jr. Ohio State - Speed, speed, speed. Al loves the deep ball and this kid. You have to account for this kid on every play with safety help or your dead. Too bad they'll never get the ball into his hands.
4.) Tampa Bay - Justin Blaylock, OG Texas - Tampa's offensive line reclamation project is now complete. With Davin Joseph and Jeremy Trueblood from last year having a year under their belt, Cadillac Williams should now be able to shine. This guy really upgrades the talent level of the offensive line for the Bucs. Here's hoping that John Gruden realizes he can run the ball and be successful in this league.
5.) Tennessee - Sam Baker, OT USC - The junior declares and wisely so. He'll be protecting the blind side of Vince Young for years. They need to start putting pieces around this guy if he's going to be successful.
6.) Miami - Brady Quinn, QB Notre Dame - Let the idiocy begin. "we're going to the bowl... the next coming of Marino... I miss the gay porn star..." The only thing that sucks worse than the Dolphins is their fans.
7.) Houston - Joe Thomas, OT Wisconsin - Houston didn't expect to have shot at this kid, but when he fell out of the top 5, they had to take the left tackle they have been missing for years. Houston now has one of the best, youngest, and deepest offensive lines in the NFL.
8.) Cleveland - Alan Branch, DT Michigan - This is the perfect fat body fit for Romeo's 3-4 defense.
9.) Pittsburgh - Quintin Moses, DE/OLB Georgia - It's been awhile since anyone feared Pittsburgh's defense. At some point they need to add some talent to this group and this guy is loaded with playmaking ability. Quintin will play OLB in Cowher's scheme.
10.) Washington - Frank Okam, DT - Talk about a no-brainer pick. They really had to fill a need here and lucked out that Okam fell to the 10 spot.
11.) Buffalo - Jake Long, OT Michigan - With Gaines, Blaylock and Okam gone the Bills had to take the next best linemen on the board. Jake will immediately be pencilled in as the starter at right tackle. We should be set at both tackle spots for years to come. Oline should be a strength on this team for the first time since names like Wolford, Ballard and Hull manned the trenches. We still need a guard though.
12.) Minnesota - Brian Brohm, QB Louisville - He can sit for a year or less and then be thrown to the wolves. Brad Johnson will be a good tutor for this guy.
13.) St. Louis - Laron Landry, S LSU - This is the kind of draft pick that the Bills made last year. People will yawn at it, but this kid has a chance of becoming the best player on the field in a short period of time.
14.) Green Bay - Leon Hall, CB Michigan - Coupled with the pickup of AJ Hawk last year, they're making an impact on defense.
15.) San Francisco - Marcus McCauley, CB Fresno St. - This guy doesn't have to travel to far. This is a great pickup for the niners and he should start from day one.
16.) Cincinnati - Zach Miller, TE Arizona St.- Carson has some serious weapons on offense. If they could ever figure out how to play defense, I might actually give a shit.
17.) Atlanta - Baraka Atkins DT Miami - He'll line up next to Jonathan Abraham and make a very difficult duo to block.
18.) New York Jets - Josh Beekman, OG - Boston College - Christ... Brick, Mangold and now this kid. They really do have a youthful offensive line. If this group stays together, they'll be among the best in the league for years to come. Something neat about this pick... Josh will get to train behind Pete Kendall for a year (a fellow BC alum).
19.) Dallas - Adrian Peterson, RB Oklahoma - A bit of a gmable with the collarbone history but Julius Jones isn't impressing anyone and they need someone else to give the rock to.
20.) Carolina - Patrick Willis, ILB Miss. St. - Carolina needs some reinforcements in the linebacking core and they certainly will be happy with this pick.
21.) Jacksonville - Paul Posluszny, OLB Penn State - This kid will get the chance to showcase his talents with the beef that he has in front of him in the Jville.
22.) Kansas City - Marcus Thomas, DT Florida - Wow. Talk about taking a header. Herm Edwards will do that from time to time and this guy can plain out ball. If not for the off field issues, he would have been a legitimate top 10 pick.
23.) Philadelphia -Daymeion Hughes, CB California - They draft boring and smart. This kid is going to be a superstar.
24.) New England - Aaron Rouse, S Va. Tech - This guy will replace Rodney Harrison in a year, be a special teams standout this year, and be a probowler in the future. Great pick by the Pats.
25.) New Orleans - Aaron Ross, CB Texas - That's Ross... not Rouse. And he would have looked good in a Bills uniform.
26.) New England - Jeff Samardzija, WR Notre Dame - Coming from Charlie Weiss's system into play with Tom Brady. Their offense is now restocked for the next five years.
27.) New York Giants - Kenny Irons, RB Auburn - There is little to no depth behind Tiki.
28.) Baltimore - Troy Smith, QB Ohio State - What a smart move. Let the kid learn behind a class act like McNair for a couple of years. I love this pick for them.
29.) San Diego - Andre Caldwell, WR Florida - LT, Gates and Rivers need another playmate and just got one who can learn in the slot for a year while he gets up to speed on the NFL game.
30.) Denver - Victor Abiamiri, DE Notre Dame - I like this kid and would love to see him in a Bill's uniform. He is polished, disciplined and a definate upgrade over what we presently have a left defensive end. I'd give up our second and third again this year to move back up into round one to get this kid. Seeing I only got what i wanted in the fifth round last year, I'm assuming I am not getting what I want here either. Denver got a good football player here.
31.) Chicago - Levi Brown, OT Penn State - They're going to try him at right tackle and guard. He'll be a backup to start with.
32.) Indianapolis - Tanard Jackson, CB Syracuse - Underrated because of where he played college ball, but should become a starter as a nickel back this year and a full-time starter by next.

OT's dont make the line.
the line makes the line
we'd have great ot's
not necessarily a great line.
btw i am immediately interested in OL and front seven players from cincinnatti after tonight! anyone have any idea if these guys are draft worthy?
also, you're #1 overall pick doesnt make any sense.

Arizona would definatley be looking trade down.
Troy Smith will go higher in the 1st round. The Bills will take him.

As of right now, I agree completely.
We're no better with him in the lineup, obviously.
Might as well get something of value in return before he bolts after '07.

huh?
Melvin Fowler is nails and I'm sure with the present troop we could find at least one starting caliber guard among the bunch...
you like Duke, don't you?
Well, I said we'd still need one more guard, but overall we'd have a solid line.

Phins taking Quinn just isnt happening, Raider written all over him , i feel bad for him.
Woodley isnt in your first round.
Oh and Bills will be higher then 11 !
Still to early for me to get into this hardcore.

Well I have to say I really dont agree w/ a good portion of your mock
The thing that sticks out the most though is Blaylock at 4
For a couple reasons
1.Guards dont go that high especially to teams who just used there first rounder on that posistion the previous year.
2.W/ Thomas, Possible Baker, and Possible Long entering the draft there is 0 chance of Blaylock being the first OL off the board

woodley isn't a first round pick he's a middle second rounder as he lacks the size to play end and the speed to play lb, unless a team like the pats fall in love with him and think hecan be the next mcginest he's a mid level pick.
when he was singled up on boone today he got eaten alive, though boone would be the first ot of the board next year

They gotta mesh well too.
Studs tend to do that but sometimes I cant tell what the hell they want from their OL.... they go the big fatass route then they go the small mobile route then they try combos of both.... all the while their scheme matches one thing and the talent matches another..... then they get guys with talent but are either dumb or dont work well with each other and they get beat mentally not physically... then they...

The trade Wilis idea is a great one.... here is why...
2008 draft... check out these monsters who will all be eligible (some may enter this year, some may be juniors and not declare but the potential pool of RB talent is immense) - - - NOTE: NO SENIORS THIS YEAR ARE LISTED BECAUSE IM TALKING ABOUT NEXT YEAR
-Darren McFadden
-Ray Rice
-Marshawn Lynch
-Mike Hart
-Antonio Pittman
-Steve Slaton
-Adrian Peterson
-James Davis
-Jamaal Charles
-Darius Walker
-Yvenson Bernard
-Tyrelle Sutton
-Albert Young
-Ian Johnson
plus some small school guys puttin up huge numbers
You can find a very good starter in just about all those guys (and great ones in a few), maybe not Sutton due to size but the others all look good. It's not like a lot of teams are starved at that potision either so you dont even have to have a high pick.
----You would ride Thomas or maybe even Ahaman Green for a season then pick up a stud in the draft (or Michael Turner as a FA even)

ROFL!!
As to Thomas, please tell me that the OSU game was just a bad week for him.
I didn't think he was horrible, but I wasn't overly impressed.
Last week was the first week I got to see him play, and at least 3 times in pass protection, he got knocked back on his heels by a smaller DE. Luckily, he never got knocked over.
But is this the norm with him? With the talent level what it is in the NFL, that could present a few problems.

Well I figure no matter what we think the Bills should do in the draft we'll all be wrong, let Marv handle that, he's been doing it longer than any of us. I think after the draft we should invite like 200 undrafted free agents from all over college football to try out a separate rookie camp, all guys from cold weather colleges, play football in the trenches and just plain fight out every play. No more players from California and Florida schools who've never even seen snow, you need blue collar guys for a team in a blue collar town. Basically, think like the Pats sort of, take guys who just play football, not necessarily dominate, but fight hard and get the job done. A select number of guys from each position would be invited to the other rookie camp to try and make this team, I'd cut guys that are on this team who don't wanna play hard to make room for a less talented guy who never gave up on a play. Think Don Beebe in the Super Bowl, the game is well past over but he's not going to allow Leon Lett to dance all the way to the endzone.

I would love to see Patrick Willis (LB, Ole Miss) in a Bills uniform next year. He's a real animal. Every NFL team screwed up in letting Demeco Ryans (Bama, OLB) get through round 1 last year, Patrick Willis is every bit as good as an ILB this year.
I would figure him to be the steal of the draft if he makes it by #15.
I guess we'll see how much a future Pro Bowl ILB is worth. Obviously, the skill positions, LT, pass rushers, and CBs are the premium draft positions but pound for pound I think Willis was the best defensive player in America this season. And this from a Bama fan :)
