View Full Version : You Dems will be happy to know....

I spent the entire day today teaching the kiddies (I teach 9th - 12th graders in History/Gov./Civics classes) why it is a good thing for the country that one party does not control all of the Presidency, House, and Senate, and that the country made a big statement yesterday by voting the way they did.

Of course I also explained gridlock and the positives and negatives of that.

But I told them the statement the voters made was: "We gave you (Republicans) a shot and we're unhappy with what you've done. Now it's time to make a change and give the other side a shot."

Personally, I'm still on the Right (and probably always will be), but I completely understand why this happened. I may not agree with the way the voting went, but that's the way Democracy works, and I'm thankful to live in a country that allows the peoples' voices to be heard.

I respect the voters' decisions. For the most part, the Dems ran good campaigns and did what they had to do to win. There will be no crying foul or complaining about it from me.

Congrats, Democrats.

Now don't F--- it up! :D

If I was in your class, I would have rasied my hand and said I totally disagree with your statement.

In any case it isn't, by default as you suggest, neccesarily a good thing one party doesn't control all chambers of Congress. That has nothing to do with the ability of a party to implement and execute policies that are best for the country.

Coach be real.

Your lesson is vanishing from the minds of your braindead students like the marijuana they're probably currenty smoking.

You're just jealous of my ability to predict Bills games.

BTW coach, I remember I said I would keep tabs on your prognistications this season. But guess what? For some reason or another, you've ceased and desisted picking Bills games in 2006.

Too bad the day's lesson wasn't about accountability huh? It would have fit perfectly with the Repubican thrashing, and your refusal to post predictions this year.

Heck, I'm always in defeat, so I'm used to it. :)

It's not the six wins which make me immortal. It's the fact I can also predict the smallest of details no one would have guessed.

No. it's how others perceive you that counts. Take my case. I am known for my accuracy, gentleness and devotion to humanity. You are known for being someone who will not be remembered.

Just to point out decon, that I'm not seeing a whole lot of magnanimity among the "neener neener neener" posts around here. :D

(Not that I mind them, I find it right funny that uppy and sukie had their party turned on its head.)

You can find my predictions each and every week at the Yahoo! Pick 'Em contest, in the Buffalo Range League: http://football.fantasysports.yahoo.com/pickem/48276

It's where you pick every game and assign them a "confidence" level. Guess what? There are 38 contestants involved. Out of all of them, I have had the highest point total in 4 out of the 8 weeks I've participated. And I was only 2 points off in another!! So, not only am I better than you at picking Bills games, I'm also better at picking all NFL games.

And you can hear my Bills picks specifically every Wednesday at 6:10pm on WIBX-AM 950 in Utica, NY, when I am interviewed about Bills football with them for a half hour.

I know it's hard for you to believe that the Range is the only place that exists outside of the zoo, but trust me, that's not true.

and for tomorrow's lesson, teach them this (a great line)

For over a thousand years, Roman conquerors returning from the wars enjoyed the honor of a triumph - a tumultuous parade. In the procession came trumpeters and musicians and strange animals from the conquered territories, together with carts laden with treasure and captured armaments. The conqueror rode in a triumphal chariot, the dazed prisoners walking in chains before him. Sometimes his children, robed in white, stood with him in the chariot, or rode the trace horses. A slave stood behind the conqueror, holding a golden crown, and whispering in his ear a warning: that all glory is fleeting.

~~~Epilogue to Patton.
Well, we are going to strut after all the bullshit we've been through here. It like beating Miami in the AFC championship. So good.
But I'd like to point out the difference between our reaction to this election and Bush's reaction to 2004.
