Now that we know republicans didn't cheat with electronic voting machines it's official now that bush claimed more votes than any other president in history!

And he is the most popular president in history!

But a huge chunk of American's didn't vote. Sure it may have been the most votes in recorded history. But only of the people who showed up to vote.

That doesn't mean he was the most popular.

The vote is the best way to see who people like. In 2004 more people voted for bush than any other person in history. The voting booth is a much larger sample than say a gallup poll.

The best and most verifiable way would be for everyone to show up.

But everyone didn't. So this is the best we can do.

Even if everyone did show up, Bush still would have won, and by even more votes.

Stop playing with statistics.

Like saying that such and such movie broke box office records; if inflation occurs and you count dollars instead of viewers, of course there is a new winner every few years.

Bush had his 15 minutes of fame.

Now his popularity is on par with MC Hammer & Vanilla Ice.

To me,a much better indicator is the MILLIONS....(and millions)....of voters who said ":censor: the BOTH of you. You all suck. Neither of you get my vote."

the bet was one month of having in you sig: George W. Bush is the Worst President Ever.

Jro
November 8th, 2006, 12:55:51 PM
It's not playing with stats. It's fact.

1. 2004: 62,028,285 (Bush)
2. 1984: 54,455,075 (Reagan)

If your theory was true each election the winner would have more votes than the last. It's simply not true.

Well that would be a lie interesting.

г

Did you adjust for inflation ?

1 vote in 1984 is worth roughly 1.45768 votes in 2004 ;)

I have to say that if you don't vote then its your own fault. You are giving a proxy to those that do. I have no sympathy for those that did not vote and could have.

You make my point. "Popular" can be most votes...in which case that means how many people live in the country and, then, how many vote...in which case Herbert Hoover presiding over the Great Depression was more popular than George Washington (whom many wanted to make King), or popular can mean the highest percentage of vote-getters...which takes into account differences of population numbers and people voting.

I go with the second version since Hoover was a tool. By that math, Bush II was NOT the most popular president ever.

George W. Bush most popular president in history he clearly recieved more votes than anyone in history forget the little gamesmanship crap!!

Ru

So I guess that makes John Kerry more popular than Reagan.

Or you could also look at it as Bush was not only the most popular President ever, he was at the same time the most unpopular President ever since he had more votes against him than any President in American history.

Bush II received more votes than any other president.

That is not a reflection of his popularity among citizens so much as a reflection of the fact that there are 300 million Americans.

Kerry is not the most popular president ever but he is the second most popular person to run for president ever. This is, of course, true only if you accept this bastardized version of the word "popular."

Jro, I think you've got some insecurity issues to work on.

Honestly man, everything is about popularity with you, like you rely on safety in numbers.

Somehow you always seem to justify everything in reference to popularity polls whether its the president, one of his policies, or a pundit's ratings.

3.5 million more votes for Bush makes the 2nd part of your post moot.

They were after all all cast by fools that supported Kerry.

So that makes them once again losers of the greatest magnitude in History.

Anybody can play with words numbers and stats.

Those type arguments are reserved for the losing side.

No, they're reserved for those who try to show the ridiculousness of labelling a president as "most popular" simply because he had more total votes than any other President in history.

Statistics are a stupid way of judging things right?

What would you like to do then? Hold each others hands and judge people by the auro that surrounds their souls?
